Description

This welcoming 19th-century cottage in Cley-next-the-Sea blends traditional charm with a modern touch. Beautifully co-ordinated decor is complemented by a delightful garden for dining alfresco, making it an excellent choice as a year-round coastal retreat for couples and small families. The space Tucked down a quiet loke (Norfolk dialect for alley), this 19th century brick-and-flint property is immediately alluring, inside and out. The kitchen/diner is the heart of the home and, in addition to the dining table, high-backed settle seat and chairs, it has all the cooking equipment you’ll need for preparing holiday meals. The lounge is another lovely space, with oak flooring and a flame-effect electric stove. Perfect for relaxing with a book or a favourite TV show, this room features a Smart TV, Blu-ray player, CD/Bluetooth/DAB radio and USB charging sockets. To reach the first floor, take the traditional winder staircase - turning and with narrow treads - and find the two beautifully designed bedrooms, a double and a twin, which share a bathroom with a shower and separate bath. The small courtyard to the side of the cottage has covered access to the enclosed rear garden, which has a lawn, flower borders and a patio with a BBQ and furniture for dining alfresco. The narrow streets of the small coastal village of Cley-next-the-Sea are lined with unique shops as well as two good pubs, tea shops, a delicatessen and a smokehouse. It also boasts a magnificent 14th-century church, a landmark windmill and - between the village and the sea - a renowned nature reserve that offers some of the UK’s best birdwatching. Take a boat trip from Blakeney (1.5 miles) to see the grey seal colony, head to the sandy beach at Wells (10.5 miles) or visit the Palladian mansion and deer park at Holkham (12 miles).
