Black Mountain Farm pond house farm-stay Pt. Reyes
Black Mountain Farm overlooks the Nicasio reservoir and the rolling hills of West Marin County. We have a cozy little off-the-grid "cottage" next to our pond with a bed, solar lights and incredible views. A perfect spot for artists, bikers, hikers and birders to come and enjoy a completely unplugged (no electricity/no heat) vacation. Its like Glamping in a wooden tent! In Spring, there are sometimes baby chicks! Come out to the country for a tech cleanse! No dogs, fire in small sterno fire pit. The space Black Mountain Farm is a family fiber farm (wool and angora) with views for miles of the rolling hills of West Marin and the Nicasio reservoir. We are only an hour north of the Golden Gate Bridge but far-removed from city life - fresh air, peacefulness, wide open spaces. There is a privacy gate at the end of our driveway - please read the directions on how to open it. Sheep, horses, chickens, turkeys and wildlife roam happily on our property. The Point Reyes National Seashore and Tomales Bay are only minutes away. Not suitable for children. The pond is not safe for kids under 14 who cannot swim 1/6 in 20 feet deep muddy water. No dogs! No fires. Guest access The pond cottage sleeps two people. It is far from the main house with plenty of privacy. There is a privacy gate at the end of our driveway - please read the instructions on how to enter the property before coming as there is no cell reception in the area. Guests can enjoy the grassy three-acre area around the pond which is great for outdoor games and just hanging out. There is an outdoor kitchen with a Coleman camping stove, pots, pans and some dishware. We provide fresh bottled drinking water and there is an outhouse with a composting toilet. The outdoor bath tub/shower is run with a portable propane gas water heater . The cabin is insulated but has no heat so bring extra sleeping bags if you get cold easily. Boots are a must in winter with all the mud on the farm! The pond is not safe for kids under 14, it is very deep and chilly. No dogs. Fire in small fire pit only if conditions permit Other things to note As is common throughout the Bay Area, weather can be variable…foggy usually in the morning and brilliant sunshine later in the day. We have a farm dog that roams the property guarding the sheep and chickens. She is friendly and her name is Poppy. There is a privacy gate on the driveway. The remote control to open the gate is in a wooden box on the support post on the left side. Please remember this as there is no cell reception to call us when you are arriving. No dogs! No fires.
