Situated in the beautiful suburb of Karen, Makena’s Place is a charming cottage with gorgeous sprawling gardens. The mature trees and flowering bushes are home to several species of birds that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the veranda. Makena’s Place is a boutique home with African themes running throughout the house. You will enjoy the art work and unique touches in the living areas and bedrooms. Makena's Place consists 3 guest rooms: The Flamingo Room which sleeps 2 persons (double bed en suite) - $60/night single occupancy or + $15 double occupancy The Gecko Room sleeps 1 person - $50/night The Kichana Room sleep 1 person - $50/night Gecko and Kichana room share 1 bathroom. Please note that this page gives you the booking price for only the Flamingo Room. All mattresses are high density spring for a comfortable night. Internet (Wifi) is available and in keeping with the peace and tranquillity ideal of Makena’s place, there is no television in the house. Makena's Place has two small playful dogs, they are outside dogs and do not sleep in the house but they do freely walk through the house every now and again. A sumptuous breakfast is included. If you love coffee, you are in luck as there is an Italian coffee making machine. If you prefer tea, your host will brew you the meanest cuppa – Chai! Makena’s Place is named after the vivacious 10 year old who will never fail to keep you entertained. Your host and her daughter have their bedrooms in a separate wing of the house to ensure maximum privacy for both guests and permanent residents. Please note that both guests and host live in the same house but in different wings. This means we share common areas - living room, dining, kitchen and veranda. Makena’s Place is a 7 minute walk to the modern Karen shopping centre – historically known as the Karen Dukas - where one can find banks, restaurants, supermarkets and African Curio shops. It is a 10 min walk to one of the the biggest shopping malls - The Hub that boast over 10 different eateries and all kinds of shops. Only 5 minutes away is the famous Talisman restaurant. Karen is home to some of some of Nairobi's best known tourist attractions including the Giraffe Centre, the Karen Blixen Museum, the animal orphanage and the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Sanctuary, to name a few.
