Cute As The Dickins perfectly describes our lakefront cottage; the original Dickinson lake home. Come and enjoy all our home and area has to offer; beautiful clean water, a true mid-century cottage, large expansive lawn, U-pick farms and farm tours, Winery tours and tastes, Cider and hard cider distilleries all around the lake. Just a fabulous location, central to all of Lake Michigan, Gold coast, fun and frolic. This lovingly restored, clean and fresh, family cottage home, features an expansive green lawn to the lake, plenty of land and water toys, a retro mid-century cottage theme, with all of the modern conveniences we have come to desire. And location location location! Close to it all yet far enough to relax and enjoy the peacefulness and relaxation cottage home lake living provides. Knotty pine walls exude warmth and comfort. Enjoy a lakeside large bedroom with king bed and bunk bed, reclining leather rocking chair and TV, full bath just off bedroom hallway/fun retro mint green tile and fixtures. On the other sided of the house, a smaller bedroom en-suite, with queen bed and full bath. A third sleeping option is the queen sleeper sofa in the living room alcove, with a full view of the lake and 32" flat screen, Comcast Cable with WIFI. Fun decor and furnishings make the cottage a joy to explore. The retro 50's kitchen is complete with original turquoise metal kitchen cabinets, 50's chrome dinette set, Kit Kat Klock and original boomerang Formica counter top with chrome edge trim. Find a fondue set, Revere-Ware pan set, Corelle dishes, and pink handled flatware...all of the fifties fun with modern convenience. The large kitchen features a washer & dryer as well as an eat in breakfast area, full size refrigerator/freezer, electric range, dishwasher, microwave, drip coffee maker, bean grinder, toaster, aluminum canister set, and of course a cookie jar. Fully furnished kitchen...just bring food. We also provide 1 high chair. The large L shaped living room features a game/dining table that seats 4 / leaf avail. if needed. 2 Large picture windows overlooking the lake, plus a full glass pane door, allow for a panoramic view of the lake and all that is going on; from fishing, sailing, paddle boarding, skiing, peddle boating, kayaking, canoeing, tubing, to the swans who swim by and occasionally come ashore. The warm clear waters and sandy bottom of the lake make it such an enjoyable experience. You might even spot a Bald Eagle! You'll find two outdoor seating areas; 2 covered, one open patio, furnished to enjoy coffee at sunrise or dessert and wine sunsets; outdoor living at it's finest. The lakeside patio seats 10+ and makes picnics pure joy! We provide a gas grill for your ourdoor cooking and a nice fire pit near the waters edge for evening bonfires and s'mores. For those who like to fish, cast your line from our private dock, drop your worm between the rocks along the shoreline and expect to catch bluegill, perch, crappie or maybe even a pike, although trolling is really best for pike. Maybe it's just a sit in the sun you love...we offer that too. You are welcome to bring your own boat with the public boat launch just down the street a ways. Nice private drive for walks, stroller rides, or biking. Bring your bikes along. Enjoy the basketball hoop and court and wooden swing set/playhouse for children, paddle boat and 2 kayaks. Fire pit and gas grill, picnic tables and lawn chairs, yard games and indoor games...we try to have it all. 2 flat screen tv's with Comcast cable as well as wireless internet services are provided. Fresh sheets and towels, blankets, pillows and bedspreads are furnished, as well as a completely set up kitchen. No smoking, no pets allowed. Year round rental. The location can't be beat. We are 1 mile from downtown Fennville with several restaurants, a grocery store, drug store, hardware and lots of entertainment throughout the year. We are only a 5 mile drive to Lake Michigan if it's the Big Lake you'd like to explore...but of course much chillier waters and sand accompany a trip to Lake Michigan shore as well. You will enjoy how quickly Hutchins Lake warms up in the summer. We are approx. 10 min from Saugatuck Douglas, 15 minutes from South Haven. So much to do in this beautiful coastal area from fruit picking, wine and hard cider tasting, trails for hiking and biking, galleries galore, and quaint lake towns, just a quick drive from Chicago, Grand Rapids, Lansing, and Detroit. We have many visitors from Ohio, Indiana, as well as St. Louis, KY and FL, as well as east and west coast visitors. New this year is our 2nd option, The Little Dickins. This was formerly the guest house. Any of you who have stayed with us previously have wondered what will become of this cute little place, that had been my grandparents guest house but had been neglected for too many years. We spent a year completely re-doing it, and it's available for over-flow guests who rent the larger cottage. Call us if you are interested in learning more. Fennville is definitely a 4 season community, so check out the happenings in all seasons...you'll surely enjoy the colors of fall here in Fennville. Our Annual Goose Festival/Get your Goose in Fennville Michigan has been cancelled this year. Stay with us while you visit your students or reunions at Hope College, WMU, Grand Valley, Calvin, Lake Michigan College...we're only a few minutes away from all. Our Christmas celebration is small town America at it's finest. And with the snow comes cross country skiing, ice skating on the lake, ice boating, ice fishing...you name it...Fennville offers it, if it's family fun you are looking for. We're a beautiful 10 min. drive to quaint downtown Douglas and Saugatuck. Visit Glenn as well, with the Blue Star Hwy antique and artist tour route. Circle the lake to find Fenn Valley winery, Virtue Cider farm, Modales Winery, Crane Orchards U-pick, corn maize, hayrides, cow rides:) and of course Cranes Pie Pantry Bakery and winery for delicious meals and wines...the original farm to the table. Speaking of farm to table...check out Salt of the Earth...another award winning restaurant, right downtown in Fennville, with a wonderful evening menu...be sure you try the brussel spouts and hanger steak! Next door is a fan fav coffee shop and spirits, Root, who offers farm to table as well, and many wonderful bakery items as well as breakfast lunch and dinner along with spirits! Root is a very wonderful addition to Fennville, and includes an art gallery. Just announced this summer is a pizzeria in the making...on the same side of the street...being created by our friends at Salt of the Earth! So look for this to be coming sometime soon to Fennville. Many enjoy the Blue Goose, and American diner, for breakfast lunch or dinner...and a favorite for decades has been the What Not Inn at the corner of Blue Star and M-89, ...fun music Sunday and Monday evenings while you dine on a casual menu and the best coconut cake on the planet! Great pizza from the Glenn Store, Salt of the Earth, and lots of great spots in Saugatuck/Douglas as well. Those are just a 'few' of the fun spots you will discover in this area...unique for it's art, coastal living, and country farm flair. But all you really need for a fun and relaxing vacation can be found right at the cottage. We hope to be your hosts for your next get-away vacation! Cheers! Bob and Kym Dickinson Zumbrink Cute As the Dickins Cottages As you can see...we're high on this area!
