We are nestled in the heart of Downtown Hartford, just two blocks south of Bushnell Park and approximately 200 yards from the Bushnell Auditorium on Capitol Avenue. Our neighborhood is rich with historic charm, featuring beautiful Victorian-era buildings that span several blocks. This property was designed and built by George Zumner between 1927 and 1928, and for the past three decades, I—along with a small, dedicated staff—have carefully modernized and maintained the building while preserving its character. The building is home to a small community of single-dwelling tenants who are quiet, respectful, and courteous. Safety and cleanliness are top priorities here, and we take great pride in creating a peaceful and welcoming environment. Each room has its own unique charm and is thoughtfully designed with our guests in mind. We go the extra mile to ensure you are comfortable and have everything you could need either at your fingertips or just a block or two away. Located directly across from the Bushnell Performing Arts Center, this home places you right in the center of Hartford’s cultural scene. Guests love being steps away from concerts, theater performances, dining, and nightlife. As with any vibrant downtown location, you may hear some city sounds or event-related activity—many visitors appreciate the lively atmosphere and energy that come with staying in such a central, walkable area. Guest access There is a parking lot at the rear/side of the building. There is also a covered porch with seating at the rear of the building which is lovely for relaxing or having a morning cup of tea or coffee when the weather permits. We do have a laundry area - guests are welcome to use it however this must be done by request as the area is kept locked at all times. Public transportation is provided by the CT Transit which operates several routes in and around the SODO neighborhood. There is a bus stop 1 block north of us on Capitol Avenue; 2 blocks west on Washington Street; 2 blocks east on Main Street and even major bus stop one block south. Buses are plentiful nearby and ply different routes in and around Hartford County. The Union Bus and Train Station are located a few blocks away from Bushnell Park. Instead of driving Downtown or nearby where parking can be expensive, we encourage guests to walk and enjoy the area once the weather permits!
