Hidesign Athens Traditional Stone House in Kea

The house is located on the hill of the port of Kea and its access is only by stairs (about 60). It is a traditional house of 55sqm, built in the early 1900s, renovated with care to keep its traditional character. At the same time, it offers all the amenities of a modern home. Because of the thick stone walls and the traditionally made roof covered by soil the house is very well insulated and also it is very well ventilated with openings in the front and the back. This makes a/c unnecessary during even the hottest days of summer. Nevertheless, stand up fans are provided. As it is an old traditional house the toilet is beside the kitchen with a lot of privacy ! Outside the kitchen a small porch roofed with bamboo offers a nice spot for breakfast, from where you can see the sea, the town of Korissia, Vourkari and Ioulida. The veranda in front of the house is a beautiful space facing the sea were you can have dinner, watching the moon reflecting on the water and the lighthouse of Kea harbor. A small stone staircase in the back of the house leads you to the garden with a wooden roofed space were you can take a nap in the afternoon watching the Aegean Sea and the island of Evia to the northwest. Bed linen, towels and bath amenities are provided. Private laundry facilities feature for your added convenience. A baby crib could be provided upon request without any extra cost. Guest access You can reach the house through the stone paved streets of the old town in 5 min distance from the port (150m Stone Street and 60 steps). It sits on the top of the hill of the old harbor.
