The Little Bushbuck @ Somerset Gift Getaway Farm

This breathtakingly beautiful farm is situated just outside the historical town of Swellendam in a lush green valley bordering the foothills of the majestic Langeberg Mountains. The setting is simply idyllic, with stunning views of the mountains, green pastures, a serene spring-fed lake, and the lovely Buffeljags River which runs the length of the farm . Each season reveals its own secret beauty making the farm a special place to visit year round. This truly is a paradise for all. The space This gorgeous little cottage sleeps 2-3 in a large one-roomed open plan studio with a fully equipped kitchen. The setting is truly wonderful with magnificent views over the spring water lake. There is also a daybed in the lounge which acts as an extra bed if need be. Little Bushbuck has an outside wood-fired hot tub, an outside barbeque area overlooking the lake, as well as an indoor fireplace. Please note Little Bushbuck is situated right above the large natural lake and adjacent to the foefie-slide, which will create some traffic and noise. Please keep this in mind when selecting your cottage if you prefer a quiet spot. This cottage is equipped with 2bpms WIFI. Guest access Guests may access the whole farm which is breathtakingly beautiful, hike up the mountains to stunning waterfalls and pools, stroll through the indigenous forest along side the Buffeljags River, swim in the spring water lake, canoe, zip line, horse ride, bird watch, picnic on the river"s edge..... Somerset Gift Getaway farm really does have something for everyone, whether you just want to relax at your cottage with friends and soak up the magnificent setting from your patio, partake in the multitude of activities on your cottage doorstep or venture into the mountain or down the river and explore this unspoilt natural treasure. SWIMMING in the pristine spring water lake on your doorstep, in the river and in stunning mountain pools. FOEFIE SLIDE (Zip line) – a real hit with moms, dads and kids! Awesome fun ending in the spring lake. WALKS through glorious indigenous forest along the river to waterfalls and deep mountain pools. WATERSKIING & BOATING on the Buffeljags Dam – bring your own boat, Somerset Gift is the first farm above the dam and 4km from the slipway. There is a minimal launching fee, please enquire when placing your booking. YOGA & PILATES we have a beautiful studio where guests can enjoy yoga and Pilates classes (additional fee – please enquire, subject to availability). CANOEING in the lake and river, paddle down to the Buffeljags dam (4km each way). Canoes are available free of charge. KIDS FISHING for young kids – kiddie’s dam (bluegill and bream), your kids will haul them out! HIKING TRAILS Private hiking trails in the Langeberg Mountains to waterfalls and stunning mountain pools. MOUNTAIN BIKING trail to Grootkloof (8km return – technical), or a gentle ride on the numerous scenic farm roads. SUNSET CRUISES on the picturesque Buffeljags Dam can be arranged (additional fee – please enquire when placing your booking). GOLF & OTHER attractions – the farm is in easy reach of tourist attractions like Swellendam (golf course), Marloth Nature Reserve, Barrydale, Witsand, Bontebok National Park and De Hoop Nature Reserve. KIDDIE’S PLAYGROUND Kiddie’s playground with trampoline, swings and jungle gym and mini foefie slide. FISHING – Bass (small and largemouth) fishing in the lake and river for the more serious fisherman. BIRD WATCHING incredible birdlife including Fish Eagle, King Fisher, various Duck, Paradise Flycatcher, Buzzard and so much more. HORSE RIDING can be arranged nearby (additional fee – please enquire when placing your booking). Other things to note Use of all faculties and nature trails on the farm is at your own risk. Please note that there is a lot of water at the doorstep to the cottage and all around the farm so additional and extra care must be taken if you have children who cannot swim. this cottage is not advisable at all for children who cannot swim.
