Description
Escape the hustle and bustle in this charming stone cottage in the heart of Acomb, just outside the market town of Hexham and only a stone’s throw from Hadrian’s Wall. The Parlour has been thoughtfully renovated to offer the perfect retreat after a day of exploring. Unwind by the wood-burning stove, plan tomorrow’s adventures with the framed OS map, or sit out on the patio with a drink and watch village life drift by. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to stay ‘til the cows come home. The space Everyone’s welcome here. The Parlour blends character and comfort, with original features like exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling alongside modern touches including Wi-Fi, Netflix, underfloor heating, and USB charging sockets in every room. Bringing bikes? A secure shed is available on request. Arriving by public transport? The Parlour sits near the AD122 bus route along Hadrian’s Wall (Hexham to Walltown) and on the 680 service to Bellingham, making it easy to explore without a car. Need laundry facilities? A separate laundry room just behind the cottage includes a washer, tumble dryer, basket, and products. Have an allergy to feathers? Let me know and I’ll swap the duvet and pillows in the main bedroom for hypoallergenic ones. The duvets and pillows on the single beds are all hypoallergenic. Working while you’re away? You’ll find seat cushions for comfort at the table, a spare USB cable, notepad, pens, and plenty of tea and coffee. Guest access In front of the Parlour, there’s a small patio with seating area. A lovely sun trap, ideal for relaxing and watching the world go by. Other things to note The Parlour is a lovely space for a couple or small family, though four adults may find it a squeeze. The mezzanine, with two low single beds, is accessed by a fairly steep and narrow staircase. It may not be suitable for very young children or those with mobility issues. Please check photos and descriptions for more details. Wood, newspaper, firelighters, and matches are provided for the wood-burning stove for two nights. Additional wood can be purchased from the local petrol station or supermarket. We can also supply an extra wood basket for £10 (logs, kindling, and firelighters). Just let us know during your stay and we’ll arrange it for you.
