Yangsum Heritage Farm

Drive through groves of bamboo to a beautiful rustic heritage farmhouse which was built in 1833 and remodeled in 1966. The homestay is run by my wife, Pema and me, we manage the 44-acre mountain farm which consists of open mixed forest of pine, Himalayan alder, schima, chestnut, magnolia, rhododendrons, cherry also farm cardamom, ginger, mangoes, peaches and tea. The accommodation is simple and rustic with wood paneled room The space The scenery around the farm is stupendous. It is really well organised and the cottages designed and furnished with great taste. We are always around to provide tea, coffee and advice on walking and hot water bottles at night! Food is local cuisine made from veggies and animal of our farm (organic). Breakfast is complimentary other meals are on charge basis. We provide a homely environment for our guest. There is no TV in the room. You won't miss it, though, with the number of outdoor activities on offer: * Village walk cum Nature walk- There are number of trails around Yangsum Farm and Rinchenpong, where hikers get to experience the rich and diverse vegetation of Sikkim. The walks are through villages, forest along plain ridges with undulating elevation making the walks easy and less tiring. *Learning Sikkimese cuisines- An excellent opportunity to be taught traditional receipts and cooking methods of Sikkim on a wood burning hearth. Guest are invited to learn to prepare the delicious Sikkimese cuisines at kitchen of the farmhouse. *Strolling, Hiking, Trekking- Whether it's a leisurely stroll through the garden, a three-hour hike to visit local villages and monasteries, or a five-day trek, there is something to suit everyone. Hike through rhododendron forests and watch local people at work in their fields and orchards. Bird-watching- The farmhouse has good knowledge of birding and the various locations for the sightings and we can arrange bird watching tours for the interested visitors. Guest access You will have access to your room, dining area and whole of our farm. During your stay My wife and me, we both love people and like spending time with our guest explaining them about our culture and showing around our farm.
