Best weekend and holiday break away in an upmarket rustic timber thatch home with massive river frontage ON the Great Olifants River surrounded by mountains and in the bush but only 1.5 hrs from Jo'burg and Pretoria and halfway to the Kruger Park and with so much to do: hiking, black bass and yellowfish fishing, birdwatching, canoeing, 4x4 and tubing The space The River House has to be one of the best riverfront properties you can get as we are on a riverbend of the Great Olifants river with massive river frontage and fabulous access to the river for black bass, yellowfish, carp and other fishing, canoeing (we have two canoes for your usage), tubing (we have 5 tubes), birdwatching, and just savouring your surroundings in a gorgeous indigenous valley surrounded by mountains and in the bush that also has thousands of fascinating cycads to behold. The property has an amazing garden with rolling lawns for children's play; a beautiful outdoor entertainment area under a canopy of indigenous trees; a lovely fire pit area where many a song has been sung and tale told. The house has 2 private bedrooms with a queen sized and double bed and a very big loft room upstairs with 6 single beds in it so it can accommodate four adults and up to 6 children in a group; 2 bathrooms (each with a shower and the main en suite bathroom has a bath too); large comfy living area with huge flop down couches and a fabulous Union no. 7 coalstove for heating in winter, cooking, baking and atmosphere; fully equipped self catering kitchen with every appliance, size potjie pot and utensil needed for cooking, braaiing and entertaining; gorgeous scenic decks with stunning river and mountain views. We are also on the Cycad Hiking Trail which starts 100m from the property and is a magnificent 2.5 hour hike with views to die for! Really a very special spot! Nothing is shared with any other group. Other things to note There are noise restrictions in the town, and we don't accommodate groups wishing to host parties with loud music and very noisy conversations late into the night. The house can accommodate a maximum of four adults and six children in a group.
