Large sunny bedroom with a comfortable King size bed and a big bay window. One of our friends described it as ‘a Victorian town-house wrapped around a country vicarage’ - it's crammed with paintings and curiosities more often found in museums than ordinary homes. You’ll have all you need for hanging your clothes and making tea and coffee, and if the weather is good, you’re welcome to sit in our lovely garden. The recently refitted bathroom is just down the hall, and is all yours. The space Our house is halfway up the hillside in a quiet area of Victorian terraces that mercifully escaped the Blitz and looks over gardens towards the riverside at Greenwich Peninsular and the O2, the wonderful architecture of the Thames Barrier and the morning sun. Charlton is a small village in London on a hill overlooking the Thames Valley with one of the finest views in southern England – or it was until the 20th-Century. Nonetheless, it still has a fine Jacobean mansion, Charlton House, at its heart; Charlton Athletic Football Club, and a pretty village high street. Previous guests have found it to be the perfect base for the O2, or the London Marathon with a brisk 10 minute walk to the start on Blackheath.
