Description
Conceived as a place of renewal by nature, The Retreat is an off grid luxury experience set in 53 acres of granite and rugged, native bushland. One of only two properties featured in Vogue Living's Guide to the Yarra Valley, The Retreat neighbours the Mt Cathedral Range near Marysville, 100mins from Melbourne. This is a location characterised by harshness and spectacular wilderness and is nature at it’s best. The Retreat is premium accommodation comprised of 5 rooms each with a private ensuite. The space The Retreat is architecturally designed with vaulted hardwood ceilings, handmade wooden furniture and plenty of creature comforts. If you like wilderness, this is your space. Huge picture frame windows will thrill the guest who appreciates attention to detail and the comfort of floor heating and air conditioning to manage the harsh conditions. As we're fully off grid, the AC units will power down between 10pm and 7am but don't worry, a six star thermal finish and double glazing will keep you cozy. Guest access Guests can access all parts of the dwelling and there is a 2km walking circuit around the property and down to the valley floor that starts outside the front door. Other things to note Here's our house rules... 1. Please, remove your shoes before you enter. We’re in a constant battle with mud and dust. 2. No smoking in or near the property, please use the seating area near the firepit or the car park. 3. Quiet time is 11pm-7am. While the neighbours are a good distance away, noise carries and we want to maintain good relations with the network of people who are important to our local community. 4. No food, milk or unnatural substances down the sink or toilets please. It literally kills the bugs that makes the septic system work. 6. Please report all breakages and issues before you leave. 7. Absolutely no food or drink on the lounge suite or rug area. 8. Please leave the property in a tidy state, with dishes done or stacked in the dishwasher out of respect to other guests coming in after you. 9. In winter, only heat with the fireplace and hydronic system, no ACs as they are too ineffective and trigger the emergency deisel generator. Generator use is a cost of the guest.
