Description
Welcome to the Courtyard Annexe, part of our Georgian house, in the centre of Kirkbymoorside. We are not a self catering unit (no guest kitchen) or a rented second home but a more traditional bed and breakfast. We'll meet you upon arrival and show you to the part of our home that is your own separate, private space. We provide a 'tea and toast' breakfast, whilst other meals can be sourced in town. Bear in mind this is an old building with lots of steps. Please read the fuller description. The space Even though in the heart of town, the Courtyard Annexe is a quiet retreat built from Yorkshire stone, converted from what was possibly an old cottage. On the ground floor there's a sitting room with a modern working wood burner and your own private shower room with toilet. Taking the steep stairs to the first floor, you'll find the double bedroom with also the open plan stairs leading to the top floor (mezzanine style). This is where there is a single bed and views to the south and east, so in the spring and summer it benefits from the lovely morning sun. There's also a roof terrace offering outside seating which is accessed from halfway up the main stairs. In the summer on a Tuesday evening, it's the best place to hear bell ringing practice from All Saints parish church next door. The church clock also rings the hour, every hour, which guests usually find very "quintessentially English". There are no facilities for preparing, heating or cooking your own food, but a breakfast is included; toast, homemade preserves, orange juice, tea and coffee. If you require any other meals, there are various food options in town but we would recommend pre-booking. Guest WiFi is not available within the property due to it's rambling nature and stone construction which impedes signal, although the town centre is a free WiFi zone which is mostly accessible around the Market Place. Otherwise it will mean using your own data allowance or possibly a friend's "hotspot". We also do not have TV. Conscientious owners of well behaved dogs are very welcome, but please note; we have no garden, and the roof terrace is a decked sitting area, not a space for your pet to relieve its self. There are various walks nearby, the closest being only 2 mins away. Please also consider your mobility before booking; this is an old building with accessibility considerations...steps to the front door, steps into the annexe itself and very steep stairs to the bedrooms, with the toilet located on the ground floor. As a destination, Kirkbymoorside makes a great base for exploring North Yorkshire; it's a convenient 'gateway' for exploring the North York Moors with Whitby and the coast around 45 minutes away, as is a city jaunt to York. Guest access Free street parking in Church Street plus other streets close by. If you are cycling, we have a secure yard where you can safely leave your bikes.
