Lily Brook Farm, Hollis, Maine
One bedroom apartment on horse/sheep farm in Hollis, Maine. View of farm from living room, bedroom on second floor up very steep farm stairs. One Queen comfy bed. There is a day bed in the living room. 21 miles from Portland and Kennebunkport. The space The apartment is attached between the barn and my house with it's own entrance through a shed in the barn. The shed is a shed with barn stuff and it's messy, this is a farm and you do have to walk through part of the barn to get to the apartment, if walking through an old barn with old stuff freaks you out enough to take photos and send them to airbnb complaining about the barn then this is not the place for you. This section of the farm was built in 1795, you will enter a very old shed with a few stairs to the apartment. There are a few cracks in the corner of a wall and a small crack on the ceiling. Even when fixed the house shifts and this happens. It's entirely possible, but not probable, that a small spider may be hanging out on in a corner on the ceiling, if this happens and it is freaking you out please call me and I will come re-home it. It's an old farm house, but a charming apartment to put your feet up in. There are very steep stairs going to the bedroom on the second floor. If you have mobility problems it would be a challenge. There is a full kitchen and large bath and living room on the first floor. There is a pack and play in the upstairs closet if you need it for your young child. Guest access I have 42 Scottish Blackface sheep, a horse, donkey, mule and four goats. An LGD dog in training, Two working Border Collie dogs, Chickens and Ducks. There is a barn cats that lives in the barn. KiKi the cat is friendly and you can pet her in the barn, if you are allergic to cats or dogs this is not the place for you. If you come in April there are new lambs born everyday. Big windows in the apartment give you a nice view of the farm. There are trails to walk on and about a 10 min walk out back there is a blue bench to sit on. There is a pine forest with a nice trail. Bring snow shoes or cross country skis in the winter if you are so inclined to wander the land. Sorry I do not allow dogs, don't try to talk me into it because I'm a push over and then I regret it. Dogs were being left in the space and they would never stop barking, also my working dog doesn't get along well with other dogs. I tried allowing dogs and it didn't work, it caused too much stress. This is a stress free zone. Thanks for your understanding. Other things to note This is a working farm. It is possible to get from the driveway to the apartment, across the lawn, without ever encountering sheep or horse manure on the ground, although you may see manure in a bucket by the barn. But if you want to visit the animals in the field with me, there is going to be manure, bring boots. The kitchen table and chairs are antiques and there is paint splatter on the chair seats that has probably been there for a million years. I actually got a bad review about the paint splatters on the chair, it is part of the way it is with old stuff. Be aware and/or Beware! This is not a five star hotel, this is an old sheep farm. :) If there is one of you then say one guests, if two then click two guests, if you have a child that is three guests.
