Description
Garden cottage set in beautiful 1 acre surrounds. Kangaroos, echidnas, birdlife. Modern bathroom, 4 poster bed, private and comfortable. Your choice of Breakfast provided. Set in a former gold rush town on the banks of the Strathfillan Creek. Close to historic sites and the beautiful town of St. Arnaud. 5 kms drive to Teddington Reservoir The space Close to the Box Ironbark forests we have lots of kangaroos grazing on the grass here. No light pollution means that the stars are very clear at night. There is abundant bird life : cockatoos, galahs, rosellas, corellas, blue wrens and honeyeaters. The Cottage and Inn date from 1868 and we have some 100 year old fruit trees. From the cottage you can see over to the River Red gums and the Creek. Stuart Mill has a rich history and the Old Malcolm's Inn has survived with many original features since it was built. Guest access Guests have access to the Old Inn, the wide verandahs and the garden. I can cook a hot breakfast for you. During your stay Guests can stay in a seperate cottage or the private second storey room. The owner lives on site but your peace and privacy are assured. Guests are welcome to use the dining room or to have a tea, coffee and breakfast in the Old Inn. Other things to note We are 23 kms from the Historic town of St. Arnaud. It has good pubs, restaurants, cafes and a supermarket. A swimming pool, art gallery and library. St. Arnaud has spectacular silo Art and is at the southern most point of the Silo Art Trail. Our mural artist Kyle Torney, has painted many other beautiful murals around the town. Murals depict history of the town and include Aboriginal people of the district, gold miners and people of the present day.
