Description
A secluded, hideaway cabin with large landscaped grounds & private parking. Just 4.5 miles from the beach at Sheringham and 7 from Cromer. Situated at the end of our land so we are on hand to help but you will feel in the middle of nowhere. A well-behaved dog permitted but must be friendly with others as we have our own, a free range Lab. If you book then you have the offer of a free guided tour of our gardens, fiddiansfollies, which are open to the public and for charity on occasion. The space You'll have the entire place to yourself. There is an open plan living space with sitting room, dining area and kitchen as well as 2 bedrooms, each with a king sized bed and there is also a shower room. The kitchen is stocked with everything you would use at home, e.g. washing-up liquid, cloths, bin liners, tea towels etc. Basic food items are provided such as seasonings, oils, tea, coffees. In the shower room there are toiletries and towels, again for use during your stay, but we would ask you to bring beach towels. If your child still uses a cot then please bring a travel one with you. There is masses of space for play outside and the cabin has its own summer house and grassy mound with a bench on top with views over unspoilt countryside. The grounds surrounding the cabin were professionally landscaped. If you’d like to see our own gardens then do just ask - we have been open many times for charity and featured in magazines. We provide plenty of books and DVDs and also lots of games and toys. There is a DVD player with the TV in main area and there is a second TV in one of the bedrooms. NB These aren't Smart TVs. This is definitely an old school kind of place as far as entertainment goes but people enjoy getting their families back to old fashioned games and watching tv together. The cabin is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties as there is a slope down to it and not for those who don’t like dogs as ours will probably (more like definitely) visit. We are situated just 4.6 miles from the sea at Sheringham which has lots for families to do including a steam railway and we are 7 miles from Cromer with its famous pier. Wedding venues such as Chaucer Barn in Gresham and Voewood in High Kelling are not far away. 23 miles away is the historic city of Norwich and of course the Norfolk Broads are in the county. Blakeney and Morston are about 20 minutes away and boats take families out from Morston to Blakeney Point in order to see the seals that live there. Do remember to book your trip in advance if you wish to go as these are extremely poplar. The Georgian town of Holt is five miles away and has many antique shops, galleries and tea rooms and a Budgens. Sheringham has a large Tesco and a smaller Sainsbury's as well as many small cafes. Sheringham has several good restaurants and we have many great pubs in the area. You will find a list of recommendations when you arrive. Guest access Parking is available very close to the cabin. You may use the immediate surrounding areas including the large lawn area and might enjoy sitting on the bench at the top of the manmade 'mound', sundowner in hand, to view totally unspoilt countryside as the sun goes down. There is also a wooden sun deck at the cabin for the same purpose. There is a picnic table with seating attached on the lawn just outside the cabin. Opposite our house is a public footpath which might be useful for walks and many people bring their own bikes and explore the local countryside. Some guests have said that the location is too remote and it is hard to find which misses the point: if you really want to 'get away from it all' (traffic, noise, neighbours etc) this is the place for you, yet Sheringham is only 5 miles away. Other things to note Check-in is from 16.00 and check-out by 10.00. Drive to our house and we will take you to the cabin. If you cannot arrive until later than 7.00pm then we will send you directions of how to access the cabin and you can go straight there. It is very important that you give us an idea of when you plan to arrive so do let us know your eta. Please give a rough idea at time of booking and a firmer one on the day of arrival. Check-in might possibly be available earlier depending on whether the booking is back-to-back. We will know this nearer the time of your booking so it is worth asking and the same goes for check-out. If you are arranging a supermarket shopping delivery please can you arrange for it come no later than 19.00. This is because they have to be shown by us a different route to take to the cabin to prevent tree and plant damage and we will have settled down after then and not want to walk with torches to direct vans in the dark. Please bring your own beach towels. Please don't leave food outside or it might get stolen by our dog, barbecuers please note. Please read and follow the checkout details. We operate a rubbish recycling policy and guests should separate their rubbish. This is one of things that airbnb requires hosts to report back on so please make the effort. All of your rubbish to be put in the wheelie bins at our house when you go, directions are on the information sheet in the cabin. Please empty all bins, including bathroom, kitchen and bedrooms. The grounds are not level at all and so care should be taken when walking, especially after rain. There are two bedrooms upstairs, one of which will store garden furniture for use during your stay in the summer months but otherwise they will be locked. They won't be Spring-cleaned! Please don't expect them to be as they are not part of the letting accommodation so think of them more as sheds. There is NO Wi-Fi due to the remote location. Please note this. We have tried with a 4g mini-router but without success. Please don't then say that you were disappointed not to find Wi-Fi on your reviews. We have to mention the following: No extra visitors unless discussed with us beforehand. NO CANDLES OR TEA LIGHTS OR SMOKING ANYWHERE. This is a wooden building. There is a slope down to the cabin from the car parking area and so it might not be suitable for those who find walking difficult. Parts of the grounds are private, although you are very welcome to look around with us by arrangement with us verbally once you are here. Please follow details about which areas are yours for your stay and do not ignore 'private' signs unless of course we are taking you on a 'fiddian's follies' garden tour :). Wooden buildings surrounded by trees attract spiders overnight.
