It has many charming features that maintain its historical charm, while offering modern amenities that are attractive to guests. Pull into the carport, where you can find a beautiful set of French doors leading up the original staircase to the second floor. You’ll enter the home from a private back entrance that is enclosed with a newly installed fence. The kitchen is fully equipped with full-size refrigerator, electric oven, dishwasher, Keurig and coffee pot. Walking from the kitchen, you will find the laundry room and dining room. A spacious living room boasts a large flatscreen TV and seating for five or more. A cozy workspace with a desk and a half-bath is also found on the first floor. Three bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the second floor, along with additional storage space for oversized items. The luxurious master bedroom offers a quiet second story balcony with a romantic space for two people to share a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Other things to note On the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg, the Confederate Army passed through the streets of town. This house, and the buildings on East High Street, were first controlled by the 27th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment known as Coster’s Brigade. The Rowe family sought shelter in the cellar as the street fighting raged on throughout this part of town. The Confederate Louisiana Tigers of Hayes Brigade overran the 27th Pennsylvania and gained possession at East High Street, which included this house. The house was Confederate occupied until the retreat of the Southern army on July 4th. Where You’ll Be The Rowe House is located approximately four blocks from the main traffic circle at the center of downtown Gettysburg. The street is lightly traveled during the day, and it’s quiet at night. Getting Around Please utilize the carport and driveway for your vehicle. On street parking requires parking meter payment, or it will result in a ticket. No cars are permitted on the street after 9pm.
