Only a few kilometers away from Vieregge is the Schaabe, a 12-kilometer-long spit, which, with its fine sand, is considered one of the most beautiful bathing beaches on Rügen. Opposite Vieregge is the island of Hiddensee, which can be reached by ferry from Schaprode.
