The Old Stables

The Old Stables is one of two well-appointed, single-storey converted barns, set around a shared courtyard in the heart of the Norfolk countryside. Situated on our farm and working livery yard, it offers guests a peaceful rural setting with horses and open countryside right on the doorstep. The accommodation offers two good-sized double bedrooms, a shower room, and a comfortable open-plan kitchen, dining and living area – providing everything you need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The open-plan layout provides a lovely space to cook, dine and unwind together after a day exploring the local area. Travelling with little ones? A travel cot and high chair are available on request. There is ample private parking, including space for larger vehicles, making the property particularly convenient for guests travelling with trailers, work vehicles or larger vehicles. Guest access Peaceful Countryside Setting 🌿 The holiday cottages, along with the farmhouse, are tucked away at the end of a long, quiet private drive, peacefully nestled within 60 acres of grassland and horse grazing. There is plenty of space to enjoy the countryside right on your doorstep, with walks around the farm and local footpaths nearby for those wishing to explore a little further afield. A map of the local area and footpaths is provided in the accommodation to help you make the most of your surroundings. We are ideally located just ½ mile from Shipdham Airfield, 4 miles from the pretty market town of Hingham, 7 miles from Dereham, and 8 miles from Watton. Getting Around 🚗 As we are situated in a peaceful rural location, your own transport is essential for getting around. There isn’t a pub or local shop within walking distance, so a car is recommended. The nearest shop is approximately 2½ miles away, while the nearest pub and restaurant are around 3½ miles away. The advantage is that once you arrive, you can leave the hustle and bustle behind and enjoy the peace, space and tranquillity of the Norfolk countryside. Other things to note Dogs & Horses Welcome 🐾 We’re delighted to welcome well-behaved pets to The Old Stables. They can stay for an additional £20 per pet, – please let us know in advance if you’d like to bring your four-legged friend. We do ask that dogs are not allowed on the beds. You may not mind finding a few dog hairs on the pillows, but our next guests might! 😄 Please bring your dog’s own bed with you. If your dog is used to snuggling up on the sofa, we’d also ask that you bring a large blanket to protect the furniture.
