Description

Interested in the “tiny house” concept? This one is located out in the country about 8 mi from Fredericksburg, and is best suited for the young (or at least agile). You will have to be able to climb stairs to get into the house & then climb a ladder up to the bed (see photos). Limited amenities: NO CABLE & NO Wi-Fi, but there is a TV & DVD player. There are wide open spaces, sunrises, sunsets, starry nights & a fire ring. No urban scene here, you will be sharing the property with cattle & sheep. The space This tiny house is set up in a pasture on a 180 acre ranch about 8 miles outside Fredericksburg. The interior of the house is a kind of a quirky “industrial country” design. It feels pretty big for a tiny house, and is best occupied by a maximum of two people; however, really friendly people, or people with small children could bring air mattresses or otherwise provide for extra sleeping on the floor. An electric drip coffee maker with coffee and all the typical supplies is provided. An electric kettle and some tea is also provided. There is no conventional stove or oven. Cooking is available on a small table top electric grill/griddle, an electric “hot plate” and a toaster/oven, plus there is a nice size microwave. The refrigerator is a “mini fridge“, so it is limited in space, but it does have a freezer large enough for that half gallon of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream that you may want to pick up at H-E-B. This is a nice BASIC cabin-like space, but it does NOT have all the amenities of many typical B&Bs. For example the bathroom is just a tub and shower combination. There is NO HOT TUB. There is NO CABLE TV and NO WIFI. You may be able to access the internet from this property using your cell phone as a hotspot. However, because the house has metal siding the signal is better much better outside on the porch. AT&T provides a 2-3 bar LTE signal here; HOWEVER, SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE provide very POOR OR EVEN NONEXISTENT SIGNALS at this property. If you book this property you will be able to check yourself in at the property. All the final location and check in details will be provided to you on the day of your scheduled arrival, and after housekeeping and make ready is complete. There is no river, lake or “surface water” of any type on this property. For public access to that kind of amenity in this area you may want to check out the following places: Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park in Fredericksburg, Lyndon B. Johnson State Park in Stonewall, Llano City Park in Llano, Cedar Point Recreation Area in Tow, Blanco State Park in Blanco, Kerrville State Park in Kerrville or Schreiner City Park and South Llano River State Park in Junction. All these places are roughly a one-hour drive from this property. Guest access This particular pasture is 33 acres and lies on both sides of Wendel Ahrens Rd. Guests are welcome to walk the pasture, but dogs are naturally very dangerous to sheep, so you must leash or strictly control your dogs at all times. Other things to note You will not be able to use your phone inside the tiny house because cellular service is very limited here. AT&T provides a good 2-3 bar LTE signal in this general area. HOWEVER **** SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE have “VERY POOR” or “NONEXISTENT” cellular signals at this property. Certain other carriers may also have poor service here. If you are heavily reliant on your phone, you may be very frustrated at this property. This place is well-suited to outdoor enthusiasts, bicyclers and hikers. The location is about 12 miles from Enchanted Rock via back roads crossing clear running Hill Country streams.
