The space Guests have enjoyed our tiny house for weekend, week-long, and semester stays. The main living space features a pull-down queen size wall bed, and there is a double mattress in the sleeping loft. The kitchen includes a two-burner cooktop, small oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, french press, coffee grinder and electric kettle. A pocket door separates the bathroom from the main room. Ceiling fan, heat pump for heating and cooling, and wireless internet. No TV- time to unplug and enjoy being out and about in the Village. There is ample street parking on Walnut and Cliff Streets. Please Note: This is an active space. If you are unfamiliar with wall-beds, the Murphy bed does require some strength and care to raise and lower. There are detailed instructions for you; however, we are happy to demonstrate the process. Also, please note that the loft is accessed by a ladder and may not be suitable for young children and those with limited mobility. Additionally, please do not use the wood stove unless you have prior experience and complete understanding of appropriate safety precautions. We designed and built the space ourselves, living there for three years with the community as our living room until we built the larger Passive House at the front of the property. The exterior of the tiny house is clad in the style of Japanese charred cedar/cypress wood, called yakisugi. For several years, the space became a design build office. Now, we are happy to offer Yakisugi Guesthouse as a comfortable creative space to stay during your visit to Yellow Springs and the Miami Valley. Guest access Yakisugi guesthouse is in a friendly, walkable neighborhood in historic downtown Yellow Springs. Whether you are interested in a retreat close to nature or plan to enjoy our lively downtown with weekly Saturday farmer's market and several art and music festivals throughout the year, the tiny house makes for a great home base. Clifton Gorge and John Bryan State Park are a short drive away. There is ample street parking on Walnut and Cliff Street. Other things to note We love the walkability of our location just a few blocks from downtown. Yakisugi Guesthouse would also make a great stopover while cycling on the Miami Valley Scenic Bike Path connecting Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and much of Southwest Ohio.
