House & Garden featured 18th-century cottage

A restored 18th-century cottage in the Cotswolds. Put together over many years, with antique furniture, textiles and colour creating a warm, lived-in interior rather than a formal one. Featured in House & Garden. It sleeps five across three bedrooms, plus a child, with a sitting room and open fire, a kitchen for proper dining, and a garden opening on to the surrounding countryside. Days here are slow; walking, cooking, reading and sitting in the garden. Evenings are usually spent by the fire. The space The cottage is around 1.5 hours from London, yet set in a deeply rural landscape. It is 25 minutes from Burford and 10 minutes from the market town of Faringdon. Carefully put together over many years, and often featured in House & Garden, it combines comfort with a more traditional, lived-in feel. There is excellent WiFi, Netflix, Apple TV and a Nespresso machine. A mile from the Thames, there are walks across fields to a lock and on to The Trout at Tadpole Bridge. The Double Red Duke is a short drive away, and Kelmscott, William Morris’s former home, is nearby. Upstairs there is a main bedroom with a double bed, a single room, and a children’s room with three single beds (one shorter than average). The main bedroom has a television hidden in a cupboard and a working fireplace. Downstairs, the kitchen has a flagstone floor, a large Aga and is fully equipped for cooking, including a KitchenAid. The sitting room is filled with antiques and has a large open fireplace. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a loo, washing machine and additional fridge. Outside, there is a terrace with a table and chairs, and a log shed. Guest access All the space is available to guests. Other things to note In summer, the Aga is switched off, but the left-hand unit functions as an electric oven. The bath has a powerful shower attachment, which should be used with care to avoid flooding. It is best suited for washing hair while in the bath. Candles are not permitted. The fire guard must be used at all times. For safety, stair gates should be left open at night, bedroom doors shut, and outside doors bolted rather than locked.
