Charming 18th century cottage

As featured in House and Gardens and the recent coffee table book ‘At Home in the Cotswolds’, the eighteenth-century cottage is set in a tiny hamlet in the middle of fields and one mile from the Thames - perfect for walking and wild swimming. Full of antiques, beautiful textiles and lime plastered walls, it is atmospheric and characterful but also has all mod cons. Not far from the beautiful market towns of Burford and Stow-on-the-Wold, it is the cosiest family retreat or romantic getaway! The space The cottage is 1.5 hours from London and yet in the most rural of locations. It is also only 25 minutes from the picturesque Cotswold town of Burford and 10 minutes from the pretty market town of Faringdon. The cottage has been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards - featuring often in House and Gardens magazine - and with every mod con (including excellent WiFi, Netflix, Apple TV, Nespresso machine etc) and so is incredibly comfortable and yet rustic. One mile from the Thames, you can walk through fields to a lock where barges pass through and on to The Trout at Tadpole Bridge pub. There are also many swimming spots and other lovely walks directly from the cottage, and a bit further away is the White Horse Hill. There is a main bedroom with a double bed, one bedroom with a single bed and a children’s room with three single beds (one shorter than average). The main bedroom has a large TV in a cupboard as well as a working fireplace. Downstairs there is a kitchen with a flagstoned floor, large Aga, all cooking utensils including a Kitchen Aid and a china filled dresser. Next door is a sitting room full of beautiful antiques and with a large open fireplace. There is also a downstairs cloakroom with a loo, washing machine and extra fridge. Outside there is a terrace with a table and chairs, and a log shed. Guest access All the space is available to guests. Other things to note Please note in summer the Aga is switched off but the left hand unit acts as an electric oven. The shower fitting in the bath is very powerful so please be careful when using it not to flood the bathroom. It should only be used for hair washing while in the bath. Candles are prohibited in the cottage. The fire guard must be used at all times. The stair gates should be left open at night, bedroom doors shut and the outside doors bolted as opposed to locked.
