Description
The building is from 2001 and is located in an area where you can enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, and cycling. San Juan de Luz train station is 46 km away, and the nearest airport, San Sebastián Airport, is 49 km away. The space The Baztan Valley is located north of the Iberian Peninsula and the Community of Navarra, next to the French border. With its 376.81 km², it is the largest of the 265 municipalities in the Community and one of the quintessential valleys of the Navarrese Pyrenees. The valley includes 14 traditional sites and the Villa de Maya/Amaiur, added in 1969, as well as several neighborhoods, groups of hamlets, and numerous scattered farmhouses, currently totaling about 8,000 inhabitants. Its natural and scenic environment has been synonymous with forests and wide unspoiled spaces, with the neighboring Bertiz Natural Park as a clear example. After the Irati Forest, it is the largest and best preserved forest area in Navarre, and even on the entire peninsula. Thanks to these natural assets and the limited industrialization of the valley, rural tourism has become a significant source of income for the local economy, complementing traditional agricultural and livestock livelihoods. The folklore and customs of the valley remain deeply rooted among the people of Baztan, who are proud of their historical legacy and their most important cultural heritage: the Basque language. Among the activities and attractions are hiking, the Xorroxin Waterfall in Erratzu, the Señorío de Bertiz in Oronoz, horseback riding in Arizkun, Bertiz Abentura Park in Narbarte, the Bidasoa Greenway and the Camino de Santiago. In terms of heritage and culture, the highlights include the Jauregia Palace in Irurita, with guided tours; the Jauregia Cheese Factory in Aniz; the Donamaria tower house; Amaiur Castle; the Amaiur Mill, with talos tastings; the Urdax, Zugarramurdi and Sara caves; the Jorge Oteiza Ethnographic Museum in Elizondo; the Santxotena Park-Museum in Arizkun; the Witches Museum in Zugarramurdi; the Urdax Mill and Monastery; and the Zubieta Mill. Also noteworthy are festivities such as Baztandarren Biltzarra in Elizondo, the October Fairs in Elizondo and the Arizkun Carnival. In addition, the valley provides easy access to Pamplona, 55 km away; Donostia-San Sebastián, 68 km away; and Biarritz, 74 km away.
