LARGE TRANQUIL FARM HOUSE IN ARRAIOLOS

It is a large refurbished farm house located in Arraiolos, set in the wine region of Portugal, Alentejo, one hour from the Lisbon international airport and 1 hour from the Spanish border ( Badajoz ). It is 500 mts from the village which has good supermarkets, restaurants, drugstores, a medical center, dentists, bars and very safe . It is 20 km from EVORA, a world heritage city according to UNESCO, it is a stunning city architectually and has a vibrancy to be enjoyed day and night. The space The house itself is very private, set on 13 acres overlooking a freshwater lake. The house is laid out on one floor, with four double bedrooms, a large comfortable sitting room, kitchen and dining room. The dining room opens onto a beautiful granite patio and saltwater infinity pool. The view from the pool is not to be missed, overlooking the lake and miles upon miles of rolling countryside. The outside area also has a covered seated area for up to 10 guests, to enjoy alfresco lunch or a sunset dinner. There are some bikes available for the guests to enjoy the 25km eco path and horses can be hired nearbyfor those who enjoy horse back riding . Guest access The main house is to be enjoyed by the guests. An annexe adjoining the house is where the owners reside and is the only private area of the property. Other things to note The house is set within a nature reserve so there is lots of nature to be enjoyed. Falcons can be seen hunting during the day and at night two owls like to perch by the pool to hoot. Gigi and I keep a few animals; we have some sheep, quail and hens! Our gardener Geronimo, maintains the gardens and grounds beautifully and is always on hand to help with the animals. If you are not an animal lover don't worry, they are all kept a walking distance from the main house but are a wonderful addition to the house if animals are of interest to you or to your children. A favourite activity for our young guests is to collect the hen and quail eggs daily, or forage for herbs and leaves in the garden. Fruit trees like lemon, fig and olive trees surround the property and are added to the house menu when in season and are to be enjoyed by our guests.
