This restored 100 year old stone cottage is not just a place to come, it's a place to return to. Its idyllic location offers peace and relaxation. It's 6 miles north of Boyle and approx 15 miles from Sligo. Lough Arrow is one of Ireland’s renowned brown trout lakes. Guests have their own private jetty at the end of the garden, fishing is free and our boat is available to hire at extra cost. Carrowkeel's Megalithic tombs, older than Newgrange, are just across the lake and wonderful to explore. The space Our cottage is located right on the shores of Lough Arrow and is one of two Airbnb houses on the lakeside property which shares a common driveway.. if there’s no available dates that you're looking for please check out our other airbnb property called The Granary House. it's located on the same yard Many of its original features have been retained and combined with the comforts of modern day living. The cottage can accommodate 4 people with 2 bedrooms ( 1 double, 1 twin) upstairs with a shared bathroom,and a toilet downstairs. The cottage is centrally heated with doubleglazing through out. Downstairs kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine etc. ideal for self catering holidays, a dining room that seats 8 and sitting room with open fire, The garden with its patio(pergola) and BBQ leads directly to the lake. Lake views and entrance to the garden and lake shore…. Guests can bring their own boat and use our own private jetty on the lake shore OR our 19ft row boat is available to hire for €25 / day or €100 / week. Please request when booking if you wish to use the boat and payments upon arrival please. Situated in one of the most picturesque areas in County Sligo, in an idyllic setting provides the peace and tranquility that many search. Surrounded by trees it is a haven for birds and several species of wildlife.. Swans drift by on the lake and the sunsets are spectacular. Many artists and writers have chosen this area for its calm peacefulness and sheer beauty of the surroundings. Guests can take the row boat across the lake and enjoy the view of the mountains in the distance. For those who enjoy peace and relaxation this is truly a magical place. There is also a barbeque area and spectacular views of Carrowkeel across the lake. Its light and privacy allow deep peace and dream-time on the shore of Lough Arrow, one of the most beautiful lakes in the west of Ireland, After a long day fishing its the perfect spot to relax and take in the sensational views. Guest access Guests have full access to our beautiful private garden. There is also a lovely laneway to walk on with very little traffic. Cottage guests have exclusive access to the beautiful mature landscaped garden with direct access to the lake from our private jetty. Guests can bring their own boat and use our own private jetty on the lake shore OR our 19ft row boat is available to hire for €25 / day or €100 / week. Please request when booking if you wish to use the boat and payments upon arrival please. we don't provide wood for the open fire/barbecue, unfortunately the wood that is around the house is for our personal use Other things to note We are a short distance from Kilronan Castle (15 minutes) Boyle (10 minutes) Carrick on Shannon and Sligo are both within 30 minutes drive. Great places to visit are Lough Key Forest and Activity Park, there's kayaking, zip wires, segways, indoor adventure games, walks and some superb nature trails. (15 mins spin) Carrowkeel Passage Tombs is the jewel in the crown of this part of Ireland. Am ancient burial ground with 5,000 year old cairns atop the Bricklieve mountains overlooking Lough Arrow. (10 mins) Strandhill,Sligo (surfing): Strandhil is a short drivve away and one of Irelands premier surfing centres. With world class waves there are several surf schools where visitors can take lessons for the day. -Farmers Markets in Boyle (Saturday)(10 mins drive) In the grounds of King house museum is a delightful cafe and the yard hosts a wonderful farmers markets with artisan bakeries, veg shops and various small holder stalls on Saturdays. Carrick on Shannon (20mins drive)is a bustling market town along the banks of the river Shannon just 20 minutes from the Granary House. Straddling two counties, Leitrim & Roscommon, Carrick is a tourist mecca with art galleries, souvenir shops, churches, restaurants, quirky antique shops and a retail park. Its a lively town at weekends with a multitude of bars and cafes catering to the day & weekend trippers. many other great places to visit such as Arigna Mining Experience, Alpaca farm in Knockvicar, The flying Eagles in Ballymote, Please check out our airbnb guidbook for places to visit, where to eat and things to go. Overall Lough arrow is a perfect location for Boating/ Stand Up Paddling/ Walking/Wild Swimming and the perfect base to explore Leitrim-Sligo and Roscommon
