Wayanda Rock Shelter, Little Taysha Rock Shelter & The Meadowland’s. My family and I vow to promote protection through monitoring, education, research, and public awareness to ensure that one of Kentucky's significant Native American sites will be preserved and protected for future generations. Our goal is to educate the community about ‘The Great One’ aka Jesus Christ, Cultural Heritage Conservation & Economical Self Sustainable Living. We offer Fellowship, Visual & Hands on Educational Exercises & Exhibits to provoke a passion for learning about cultural customs, beliefs, rites, rituals, ceremonies, indigenous knowledge, arts, crafts, music, beliefs, behavior, history, practices concerning the natural environment, religious and scientific traditions, language, sports, food and drink, calendars, clothing, and emerging new cultures which will become the heritage of the future. Encouraging cultural heritage traditions and diversity creates a rich and varied world, which nurtures human capacities and values, and therefore is a mainspring for sustainable development for communities, peoples and nations. The origin of Kentucky’s name derived from an Iroquois word “Kenta,” meaning “Field” or “Meadow.” “Meadowlands.” Fellowship Communal Areas: Historical/Archeological Sites Wayanda Rock Shelter “Wayanda” is thought to be a variant of the Native American word for “the place of happy hearts.” Little Taysha Rock Shelter “Taysha” which means "friend" or "ally" in the Caddo Indian language. In our Rock Shelters…. -Conduct Sermons, Cereomies, Rites, Rituals, Worship, Reflection, Benediction, Meditation, Devotion, Discipleship & Religious Studies of ‘The Great Spirit” Jesus Christ our Savior -Signs/Images/Exhibits displayed of ceremonial peace pipe rituals, chants & music (Rules posted for visiting & learning about Stewardship of Archeological sites) The BIG WHITE OAK~ Sacred Medicine Tree Pow•Wow Playground -Area for recreational enjoyment; Tuckernucks-Algonquin word for picnics; Arts & Crafts, games, swings, storytelling, and entertainment -Signs/Images/Exhibits displayed of plants, trees and their edible and medicinal uses; Legends, tales, myths and folklore; Native games and dances Treasure Hunt Trail~Scavenger Hunt Hunt for the Rich History and Culture of Native Americans who lived here in Kentucky & *The OG’s of Conservation* -Traverse this trail searching for clues provided on the scavenger hunt sheet. Trail of Haunts Spooky displays and Native American Legends of “Ghosts,” “Spirits,” “Witches,” “Monsters,” and “The Supernatural.” WEIRS Trap Pond Here you can practice building a stone or wooden Weir fishing trap. Dive deep into the portals to the past with promise for the future and survival! A fish weir or fish trap is a human-made structure built of stone, reeds, or wooden posts placed within the channel of a stream or at the edge of a tidal lagoon intended to capture fish as they swim along with the current. Fellowship Stargazer & Campfire Habitats Unwind & Relax after a fun filled day of Fellowship and Curtural learning at one of our Habitat Reservations! Each habitat is supplied with a hammock, fire ring, lighter, flashlight, seating, table, tree cookie slab, 5 gallons water, trash receptacle and composting latrine. As the sun goes down you’ll enjoy seeing the the flickering fairy lights decorating your habitat and The Meadowlands! -Habitats are named after the four designated prehistoric traditions and Indigenous terms, displaying signs/images/exhibits defining their meaning at each habitat. Paleoindian Habitat #1~Dream Catcher Dwelling (12,000-7500 B.C.) Archaic Habitat #2~Petroglyph Point (7500-1500 B.C.) Woodland Habitat #3~Gnomes Home (1500 B.C.-900 A.D.) Adena (early Woodland) Hopewell (middle Woodland), Mississippian Habitat #4~Arrowhead Alley (900-1650 A.D.) Plan to have your families Pow•wow here. Learn about the Native American Hominy hole in our Large Rock Shelter. (Waterfalls may be dry during drought season)! You will enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature along with the sounds of our farm animals!! We have peacocks, pheasants, pigs, honey bees, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, dogs and cats. The dogs may visit you and keep you company if you’d like, if not we will certainly put them up during your stay. We have a pond that you’re more than welcome to fish in or put one our kayaks in to play or practice!! These are primitive camp sites that are very spacious. At Each site we have provided a fire ring, grill, small table and chairs!! All sites have a compost toilet. We are working on a community bathroom/solar shower! You will have access to all of our farm. Walking trails, fishing in our pond, a community area under our big oak tree with picnic tables, swings and a fire pit. There is also a fire pit in one of the rock shelters that you are welcome to use. We are close to Rough River lake, Nolin Lake and White Mills Falls!! Put us on your bucket list and come stay with us soon!! We’ve added a 5 hole putt putt course as well as a giant connect four, cornhole, giant dice, yardzee, and tetherball! Crack open our educational beehive to learn about honey bees!! Bring your inner artist out and paint a rock! (supplies provided) At night you’ll enjoy all of the fairy lights! We’ve also added Guest access Some of the most unique and special places are located off narrow rural roads!! Our property is located on a narrow 1 lane road (county maintained) please drive slow & be courteous with any passing vehicles. Our farm is on the left as you get up the small hill, you’ll notice a cross facing the road in our yard as your driving up. Our 3 neighbors are to the right. You’ll notice a chicken coop with our hand painted farm sign mounted to the back & a huge old barn. Pull in on the gravel behind the chicken coop at our scheduled meeting time and I will meet you and have you follow me to your site. You’ve gone to far if the pavement switches to gravel, one other neighbor lives back that road. Please stay on our property only. There are property boundary signs posted around our 19 acre plot. We will be adding a roped fence around the property soon to make it easier to know which part of the land is your territory! You can access all of our property including rock shelters, walking trails, waterfalls (may be dry during drought season), as well as our pond for fishing or kayaking. Our community oak tree has giant yard games, rock painting, putt putt, cornhole, tetherball, and much more! Come up and visit our farm animals too!! Other things to note Our campsites are primitive. At each site we provide a fire ring, grill, small table, and 2 chairs or a bench. Some sites do have a hammock. we are working on creating a community bathroom/solar shower area for everyone to access. We do have bundles of firewood available for sale as well as common camping items for purchase that you may have forgot to bring. We want you to have a wonderful experience at our farm.
