This 200-year-old "Servant`s Quarters" accommodation of Ballyin House, is located directly across from Lismore Castle over the Blackwater River - the perfect location to base yourself during a visit to Ireland`s Ancient East. Lismore is an enchanting town full of rustic charm and perfect for enjoying many of the local events such as the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival, Immrama Writers Festival, the International Hunter Trials, St Declan`s Way or for relaxing and exploring this magical area. The space This accommodation offers a unique experience to walk in the footsteps of history in an extremely blissful environment. The location, within walking distance of Lismore town; is perfect for experiencing all the activities of Lismore and surrounding areas. Alternatively, it is ideal to just immerse yourself in the peace of the grounds and enjoy the luxury of a private walked back yard overlooking Ballyin Mill (now hosting free Exhibitions on Sat and Sun as advertised by Lismore Castle Arts), the walled Orchard (an opportunity to also feed the hens) and many of the tranquil walks. There is internet available plus a TV set to facilitate a "Movie Night" with DVDs (a huge selection to choose from). We provide you with all the essentials you need, plus there is now also a Nespresso Coffee machine stocked with pods :-) There is also a "Reading Corner" in the "Mill View Lodge" - a snuggly corner where one can relax and read a book with a blanket - right beside a boat-shaped shelving unit housed with loads of reading material, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle`s "Sherlock Holmes" stories :-) This area of "Lovely Lismore" has many amazing opportunities for wood and mountain walks, fishing, bird watching, horse riding and water sports like kayaking on the blackwater River, surfing and body boarding on the local beaches and of course swimming - in the sea and the local rivers. If you like swimming in clear fresh water directly from the mountain - there is private direct access to Abhainn naShad just two minutes walk from "The Mill View Lodge". On top of that, there are oodles of locations for private picnics, cycling, boat trips on the Blackwater River, to name but a few..... Guest access While staying at the Mill View Lodge, you shall have your own private entrance and ample parking. Guests are also very welcome to stroll the grounds of Ballyin House and help themselves to the free-range eggs from "our ladies" who run and wander happily in the Orchard plus guests are very welcome to pick the seasonal fruit, veg and herbs organically growing such as the lemon balm, mint (three types including peppermint, spearmint, regular mint), wild garlic, chives, lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, gooseberries, blackcurrents, blackberries, mushrooms, hazel nuts, potatoes and of course the apples from our ancient apple trees in the Orchard :-) Other things to note If you have any particular interests that you would like to participate in during your stay, please let me know and I shall find out details for you.
