And here a bit more historical: the Hockenmühle was a border point of the high court of Rhaunen for many centuries. As early as 1461, a cross between the mill and the Roman road, today's Ausonius hiking trail, was mentioned as a border marker. Later, a gray wock in the meadow at the Hockenmühle served that purpose. In 1764, Johann Nikolaus Trarbach was first mentioned by name as a miller on the Hockenmühle. Until 1950, grain was ground with the water in the Hockenmühle and delivered to the Mosel with a horse-drawn farm by Gustav Lorenz. With the Lorenz family, the long time of the mill business ended. In 1995, Amja and Klaus Erfurt acquired the property and restored the buildings. Due to removal and remodeling, the Hockenmühle could henceforth be used as a guest house and residence. Since 2014, the Hockenmühle has been run on their own behalf and serves as a meeting place for literary and spiritually interested people. Guest access Our literary salon in the attic and its library is available to our guests for conversation and reading hours. On the 2.5-hectare meadow areas, everyone will find their personal seating or lounging or resting places. Other things to note Attention side effect: The babbling of the stream has a deep sleep effect.
