Perfect for a romantic retreat, drenched in history and charm, Kites Holt (part of Kites Cottage) is a 500 year old Grade II listed Medieval Hall House sitting within the centre of the beautiful village of Stockland. A stunning, one bedroomed, beamed thatched cottage with the benefit of its own private entrance into the original hall of the cottage, dating back to circa 15th century. The space Kites Holt boasts space and light whilst maintaining a wealth of its original character along with some quirky features, offering guests originality with a high standard of luxury and comfort included. This archetypal thatched cottage in an unspoilt village setting is the perfect destination for a comfortable country break. Kites Holt offers you the best of both the traditional and the contemporary, with original flooring, exposed beams and a feature open fireplace, as well as modern comforts such as underfloor heating in the bathroom and a luxurious super-king size bed with a Devon wool duvet. The welcoming bedroom also features more exposed beams and a "Narnia" style walk in wardrobe, along with triple aspect picture windows. The beautiful bathroom is located on the ground floor and has a double wet room style walk-in shower and a luxurious roll-top slipper bath. Outside, guests can enjoy the private, fully enclosed south west facing courtyard garden, with garden furniture, fragrant plants and lovely views of the village church and the countryside beyond. Stockland is a pretty, small village nestled within the Blackdown Hills (designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1991). You'll find plenty of country walks through the woodland and countryside right from your doorstep. The village boasts a welcoming pub, the Kings Arms, with a great selection of wines and local ales. If you are looking to eat, then it is advisable to book as it is very popular. Kites Holt is the ideal romantic retreat, however unsuitable for guests with limited mobility due to the changes in levels throughout, and winding staircases between the bedroom and bathroom. Additional Information: Sorry, no children or infants. One well-behaved, small-medium sized dog welcome (small additional charge). Kites Holt is very cosy and not suitable for a large dog. Please note Kites Holt is not suitable for guests with limited mobility. The cottage is 500 years old with many original and quirky features such as a windy staircase up to the first floor bedroom, with the bathroom located on the ground floor; restricted headroom in some areas; and steps throughout the cottage. There is no barbecue available or permitted as the cottage is thatched. EV Charging point available on a pay as you use basis. Guest access Ground Floor: Front door entrance from thatched porch leading to medieval flag-stoned hallway, with plenty of storage for coats. Backdoor leading onto private courtyard garden. Sitting room Dual aspect sitting room with open fire and door leading to steps to bathroom. Bathroom With underfloor heating, a roll-top bath, walk-in shower, wash basin and WC. Mid Floor: Short staircase leads up to Kitchen/dining room With an electric induction hob, multi-functional microwave with fan oven and grill, fridge/ freezer, dishwasher, handmade oak units and a Belfast sink. Small table and chairs overlooking the view of the village church. First Floor: Quirky winding staircase leads up to Bedroom A large, triple aspect bedroom with a locally made 6' super-king size bed with a Devon wool duvet. Large walk-in wardrobe.
