The "Trapper" Cabin

Description

The "Trapper" cabin is a great place for travelers to rest their heads and get quality rest. It features a comfortable bunk bed (suitable for 2 adults) and room to store your luggage. You'll have internet access and a little deck to hang out on. We provide a heater for cooler nights. Tucked back from the commotion of the common areas, the shared bathrooms, showers, and kitchen are a stone's throw away. An extra bed (camping-style cot bed) can be added for $20. This cabin is dog friendly. The space Sven’s Basecamp Hostel is where adventurers in Alaska begin a journey, meet up after a trip, or take a much-needed rest. Mountaineers, amateur naturalist, wilderness guides, motorcyclist, and those looking to explore Alaska find friends and relaxation here like nowhere else in Fairbanks. Centrally Located between two major ports of entry we are 3.5 miles from Fairbanks International Airport and 3.5 miles from the Fairbanks train station. You will be within a mile of a Fred Meyer food and Safeway, and minutes away from some of our favorite bars and restaurants where the locals like to go. You’ll love your stay because of the private unique glamping experience, the meals you will cook and share (likely with new friends) in the community kitchen, and the memories you will probably value for a lifetime. Come alone or bring family and friends. We dogs on leashes if they are well behaved and welcoming to others. The beds are fitted with sheets and pillows. Sleeping bags and towels are provided if needed upon request. The bathroom and quarter-operated shower are conveniently located in our community bath house nearby. Guest access You will have free parking in our parking lot. Motorcyclists have designated parking. We have a community kitchen that is stocked with pots/pans and dishes that you are welcome to use. There are also two refrigerators and plastic containers for dry food storage. We ask that all guests clean the dishes they use and label their food with their name and date of storage. ***PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING DESCRIPTION AND RULES BEFORE REQUESTING A RESERVATION.*** When making a request, please tell us a little about yourselves, your interest in the cabin and indicate that you have read the full listing and house rules. Hope to see you soon! Other things to note Firepit / Barbecue Grill Hand crafted benches and a metal fire pit with endless wood for everybody to use. Sit around a warming fire, exchange travel stories and travel plans with other adventurers from all over the world. Cook your own steak on a big barbecue and enjoy your food at the picnic table or the log swing. Wireless Internet You might have been out of touch with your loved ones for a few days or even weeks. No worries, a wireless signal covers most of the property Laundry, showers, bathroom Are you in need of some cleaning? There are 2 coin operated showers, 3 bathrooms and 2 male/female wash stalls with hairdryers. We have laundry service available for $12-16 per load depending on load size. Mad Trapper Coffeehouse Our newest addition to our property! We'll be serving up espresso drinks and tea daily from 7am-12pm in this cozy cabin made of beautiful birch trees and nice outdoor patio. Kitchen In the kitchen you will find a big refrigerator with attached freezer, a microwave, an oven with a propane cooking stove and plenty of silverware, plates, pans and pots for your ultimate cooking experience, if you got what it takes to be a cook. Main office building Planning your trip? Come to the office and find out where and what to expect out there in the Alaskan Bush. Running dogs, living in the bush and guiding trips all over Alaska has taught me a few things and sharing my own experiences with you will help getting you not only ready for any outdoor adventure but also will ensure you visit the parts of Alaska that are right for you. Here you also get all the info you need to find out where the good restaurants are, the places to visit, which hotspots not to miss, what trips to book or simply finding out what’s happening in Fairbanks. Sven or his staff knows what’s going on in and around town and love to share their knowledge with you. Parking/How to get here Should you arrive with your own car there’s a big parking lot and plenty of space for any size rig. We do not provide a shuttle service. If you arriving from the airport or train station, the best way to get here is by taxi. It is only about a 5 min drive and should only cost you between $10-15 per ride. The Fun Corner What about a game of volleyball? a foosball match or a play of ping pong? Jump on the slackline and join in on the fun. Along with all the other activities we have planned for next summer you won’t get bored at Sven’s.
