VUT 47/302 The space A complete apartment with everything you need to enjoy the beautiful and tourist town of Tordesillas, a 20-minute drive from Valladolid. Tordesillas is the place where the Treaty of Tordesillas was signed and where Queen Juana I of Castile (or Juana, the Mad) was imprisoned until her death. In this town of Valladolid you can see: – The Plaza Mayor: typical Castilian square with arcades and a square floor plan. It dates from the 17th century. – The Monastery of Santa Clara. It is the most touristy monument. An old Mudejar palace that was ordered to be built by Alfonso XI in the century. His son, the Cruel, gave it to his daughters Beatriz and Isabel, who turned it into a convent. Juana I of Castile was also locked up with the corpse of her husband Felipe, the Handsome. Much of its interior can be visited. Its Arab baths stand out. – The Treaty Houses. They were declared of Cultural Interest in 1996. They are two palaces joined together, one from the 15th century and the other from the 17th century, in which the negotiations between Spain and Portugal for the signing of the 1494 Treaty were held. In summer and autumn, theatrical tourist visits “The nights of Queen Juana” are held. – The Palace Gardens. They were ordered to be built by Philip V on the southern esplanade of the disappeared Royal Palace, where Joanna the Mad and Henry III lived among other monarchs. Don't forget to take pictures with the panoramic views of the bridge. – Its main churches: San Antolín (also a museum), Santa María, San Pedro, and Santiago. – Other cultural offerings: Museum and educational center of Lace in Castilla y León, permanent exhibition of models "Grandes Miniaturas", Museum of the Radio and Museum of the Lantern. The patron saint festivities are in September, the exact dates vary each year. In October, the Middle Ages Market stands out, born in 1994 and imitated in many places, but without reaching the success and extent that it has in Tordesillas. I recommend it, you will love it. And if you decide to eat in the village, be sure to try the local dish, the turresilano rooster, or the Castilian lamb. For those with a sweet tooth: polvorones del Toro, amarguillos, canelos, hojaldres and the famous leche helada. Other things to note The terrace is only fully assembled from June to September due to weather conditions.
