Description
Espargal is a 300 acres Rural Reserve set in a Natural Park just 3 kms of the secular Vila of Odemira. Wild beaches, pedestrian routes of untouched flora and fauna, old forests and waterfalls are close by. Canoeing, paddling, bird watching and surfing are advisable. A 4 suites house compound with, pool and private pier on river, provides in a active rural setting, tranquility, comfort and exclusivity. Also included is a every two days (2 hour long) basic cleaning service. The space Odemira Vila, capital of Southwest Alentejo has a modern network of commerce and services, concentrates a vast and preserved cultural diversity and landscape of sea, river, dam, mountain and plain. With an atlantic / mediterranean climate, adjusted for excesses by the proximity of the sea and surrounding river, rainfall levels are low, annual sunshine hours exceed 2,700. A new emerging tourism enjoys genuine mediterranean gastronomy in an environment of fauna and flora still untouched where the pedestrian routes lead to discover innumerable wild beaches, intact forests, streams and waterfalls. Canoeing, bird watching, diving and surfing are referential activities. In Espargal, where more than 2/3 of its limit is formed by the Mira River, it is the place of choice for a sustained agricultural activity in the extensive breeding of “limousine” cows and calves with the necessary continued farming of wheat, ryegrass, mixed meadows and maize for animal feed. Extraction of cork, honey, “medronho” and floral oils are complementary activities.
