Saffron Cottage, cosy converted miner's cottage
Description
Saffron Cottage is a pair of ex miners cottages full of character and tastefully renovated into a 3 bedroom warm and comfortable holiday home. The space is ideally suited to those who want to explore this beautiful and magical corner of Cornwall. It is 2 minutes walk to the centre of St Just, and 15 minutes walk to Cape Cornwall and the South West coast path. The space The front door opens from the street into a hallway with stairs. On the rIght is a cosy sitting room containing a comfortable sofa bed and chairs around a fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. The rocking chair is new for 2025 and ideal for curling up in front of the fire to read a good book! A sash window overlooks the grassy area at the back. There is an internet-enabled TV, books and games and WiFi is available throughout. Opposite the sitting room, a door opens from the hall into the fully equipped kitchen/diner with a flagstone floor. It contains everything you need, including a cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine and a table which seats six people comfortably. From here is a door to the patio which is for your own use, and beyond that is a walled grassy area with a secure back gate which is shared with neighbouring properties. There is a lockable shed in which we store the garden furniture, a small rotary washing line, some extra fire bits and bobs, and can be used by you to store any sandy or muddy items, such as surf boards or walking boots. There is also a shared washing line you can use for more bulky items. A steep carpeted staircase leads to the first floor (mind your head half way up!) where the staircase splits with a further step either side off which are two comfortably furnished carpeted double bedrooms, and a smaller bedroom with bunk beds (adult sized single beds) and a family bathroom, W.C, shower over the bath, basin and heated towel rail. Good quality linen and towels are provided, please bring your own beach towels if required. If you want to use the sofa bed please let us know so we can leave extra bedding out. On arrival, in the winter months, guests will be supplied with a small quantity of firelighters, kindling and coal, more can be easily purchased from the co-op or Clemo's in the centre of town. We also have an electric heater and a heated throw in the cottage if you require extra warmth in addition to the central heating and the stove. Parking is freely available on the road outside the cottage, you can usually park very close to the front door. Additional parking is available in the free car park in the centre of St Just, only 2 minutes walk away. For those without a car, there is a regular bus service from Penzance, through St Just to St Ives. Guest access All the space is available and the cottage is purely for our guests' use. The patio by the back door is for your individual use. The grassy walled area beyond this is a space shared with four other cottages all of whom have back doors opening onto this area. When the back gate is closed it is a secure space for dogs and children, however please note that the owners and guests of the other cottages may pass through this space. Other things to note This is an old cottage so the floors are a little uneven. There is a low beam that you will meet half way down the stairs so please duck or grouse! Please note the loo blocks up easily so stick to the 3Ps rule (pee poo and paper) many thanks! We will accept one or two well behaved small dogs. Please keep them downstairs, there is a stair gate. If you would like to bring your pet please let us know. The heating is pre-set to an ambient temperature, the stove can also be lit on chilly days! We keep an electric heater and a heated throw for your use in case you require extra warmth on one of West Penwith's occasional days of 'liquid sunshine' :)
