The space The space includes parking area leading to the modern and open style main house which includes two bedrooms and a typical Finnish first floor open maisonette area (“parvi”) - please note that the stairs are steep - living room, kitchen, shower room with toilet, fireplace, heat pump plus underfloor heating with thermostats in each room. The house overlooks the lake in front, with vast open space over a 7km range - lake Vesijärvi reaches out all the way from Lahti town and through the canal in Vääksy, to the Päijänne lake and all the way to Jyväskylä 150km away from the house. The lake water in front is clean (European 1st class standard) and contains an ample stock of fish. The Päijänne lake provides drinking water locally and even to the inhabitants of the capitol of Helsinki. Walking down the stairs outside, the garden area also opens with the views over the lake. The separate old style wood fired sauna house is made of logs brought over from Lapland. There is a barbecue area with dining and seating areas overlooking the lake, and a summer kitchen with a dining table and a wood fired range cooker. Additionally there is a 200 year old traditional storage house. A rowing boat with small electric motor is included. Fishing needs a licence, which can be bought online for a day or per week. There are two jetties from which to go swimming in the lake. Motor- and sailing boats and jet skis are available for hiring through local operators, who also organise trips on the lakes. Nearby country roads, woods, fields and tracks offer plenty of walking, hiking and biking possibilities in the country roads, in the woods and over the hills with renowned views over fields, hills and lakes and possibilities for berry- and mushroom picking typically in the July-October time. During a typical mid-winter time, country skiing is possible also on the lake, and there are skiing tracks locally, in the nearby Vääksy area and in Lahti, where downhill skiing in popular Messilä is also possible. Golfing, horseback riding, biking, hiking and other indoor and outdoor activities are available in both Vääksy and Lahti areas. Nearby Vääksy village has local shops, cafes, restaurants, older buildings and a harbour whilst Lahti town offers more extensive range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Lahti harbour offers also boat tours around the Lake District. Guest access You have the entire area with 120m of lake shore and all buildings (main house, sauna house, summer kitchen and barbecue area) for your private use during your stay at Villa Fox. Other things to note Wi-Fi is Free and offers a 100MB speed connection. The bedsheets and towels are available for extra 10e per person, and with beds made ready, 20e pp. For every two days of your stay, there is a bag of firewood logs and barbecue coals each included in the price and extra bags cost 20eur and 10eur, respectively. There is a 150e final cleaning fee. The plot is steep in places and hence not ideal for toddlers or elderly with limited ability to walk or move: having said this, nevertheless, there has been plenty of babies and toddlers and grandparents staying in the place. Although the local farmer does his best to maintain the private road to the property in the best condition in the winter time, the access through the hilly road can be challenging without a 4x4 . The farmer help should you get stuck on the road costs 50e per visit.
