Description

Locks Farm House is a Grade II listed stone build dating back to 1702. It is a traditional long thatch with the roof also covering the former barn. There are two plain beam reception rooms and two double bedrooms, one with an original panel wall. All the rooms look out onto a walled garden and the Downs surrounding the village. The current owners restored the house lovingly using original materials and remain resident in Niton. The space The house is equipped to cater for up to six people, with the sofa converting to a double bed for downstairs sleep option. The accommodation includes the use of a washing machine and drying area as well as an ironing board, iron, clothes rack, pegs, brooms, dustpans, etc. should you need them. Safety of our guests is our priority, there is a sanitiser installed, deep cleans are carried out between all guests. The hot water boiler is safety checked annually, chimneys are swept and there are smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire blanket, a fire extinguishers and first aid kit in the property. For your own safety please refrain from the use of candles and other open flames upstairs. Take care in passages, some room entries are below standard height and the floors are wooden, so slippers are recommended. The sheltered garden area has outdoor seating and a picnic bench. The paths through the garden and the very back of the garden, are in use by the owners for access into their adjoining property and care of outdoor areas. Guest access The garden patio area in front of the house is set up with furniture for outdoor dining and relaxation. Other things to note The location allows guests to spend time in nature, after all we are part of it. Take time to recharge by enjoying bird song, breathing the sea air and wandering in woodlands. Make use of us as guides for orientation walks or simply use the maps provided with your stay to explore. Note that phone reception is patchy in the Undercliff part of Niton. At dusk, in the summer, bats and badgers visit the garden and sometimes a red squirrel is seen at dawn. For watching TV, cables are provided to link your devices from which you can watch all your favorite subscription channels using unlimited Wifi. There is a Roku TV installed, registered to our account. Should you wish to watch unopened channels please let us register for you (a small fee may apply depending on the channel). Text and we can send Channel access codes through! Did you know the Undercliff is Eastern Europe's largest landslip at 8km! The start of this is next to St Catherine's Lighthouse, best seen from Windy Corner Car Park. If you decide to venture into the Undercliff, through St Lawrence you explore multiple isolated bays, Steep Hill Cove, Botanic Garden and Ventnor. The end of the landslip is Bonchurch and Luccomb (main roads are walkable but the footpaths are closed). When walking back from Ventnor to Niton we recommend the cliff path starting at St Lawrence Shute.
