This is a place for people who wish to enjoy and protect biodiversity. It combines innovative design with local materials and techniques, and has been built by local craftsmen in the framework of a development project. We are committed to give continuous on-the-job training to local people and to minimize our impact on the surrounding ecosystem. We support collaboration between local and international universities, who can use Casa das Garças as a base to carry out research in the Park. Other things to note To reduce waste we encourage people to carry their own aluminium bottle. Local way of transport to the other islands is the local boat called "dhow". We recommend bring a waterproof jacket and a dry bag. To enjoy walking in the mangroves it is good to wear water shoes/booties. In some places USD may be accepted but it is always better to have local currency (Meticais) with you. In Ibo there is one health center but better to take all the medicines you may need with you.
