Nestled in the picturesque Galloway hills of South-West Scotland, Orroland cottages comprise 3 holiday cottages, set far apart from each other, on the peaceful 500 acre private Orroland estate, which rolls from the hills, all the way down to the shore. Housing a loch with pavilion, wildflower meadow, sculptured gardens, towering woodlands and unspoilt grassy fields, Orroland offers the best of its surrounding beauty, all in one place. CUTLAR'S LODGE ACCOMMODATION - 3 bedrooms | 1 bathroom | 1 shower room | Super-fast Fibre Wi-Fi | Open fire | Private games room Cutlar’s Lodge can be found via its own private drive, off the main lane into Orroland estate. There is private off-road parking right outside the house. A spacious, two-storey detached cottage, it is a traditional stone build, offering a very warm welcome. CAST IRON OPEN FIREPLACE WITH LOGS PROVIDED - A cast iron, open fire gives the sitting room a lovely, warm focal point. We will even make sure it is laid, all ready for your arrival. And should you need more logs? They are freely available, right outside the property. WELL EQUIPPED KITCHEN AND SEPARATE DINING ROOM - The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need, including an induction hob, microwave, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. On arrival, you will find a freshly home-made cake. A separate dining room enables you to relax over dinner, away from the cooking. Whilst the sun porch is the perfect location for a morning coffee, with views out across the wildflower meadow and fields to the sea. There is always plenty of hot water on hand and if there’s a chill in the air, we will already have put the heating on, in anticipation of your arrival and you have thermostatic control during your stay. DOWNSTAIRS BEDROOM AND BATHROOM - This property offers a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, making it an ideal multigenerational escape. Cutlar’s Lodge sleeps up to five people, with sleeping accommodation comprising a ground floor twin bedroom and on the first floor, a single room and a king size bedroom, both sharing a shower room. A comfortable night's sleep is assured in top of the range beds. Bedding, towels, shampoo and a hairdryer are all provided. The bathroom, including a bath with shower over, is situated downstairs. ENCLOSED AND PRIVATE GARDEN - Cutlar’s Lodge offers total privacy, with its own fully enclosed garden, complete with furniture and a BBQ with charcoal provided. There are stunning views over the wildflower meadow and grass fields to the sea glimpsed beyond. The nearest neighbouring property, Abbotsway Cottage, is about 5 minutes’ walk away. A blissful 15-minute walk away (or drive most of the way, if you prefer) is the rocky seashore, with expansive waters, warmed by the Gulf Stream. A CHILD FRIENDLY LOCATION PERFECT FOR CREATING LASTING MEMORIES - Babies and children are warmly welcomed at Orroland. For the little ones, we provide a cot and high chair (please bring your own cot bedding) as well as stair gates, fire guards, cutlery and crockery. You will even find some toys, games and books. Older children will love the freedom to get out and explore the estate. Head down to the shore to hunt for sea life in the many rock pools. Discover waterfalls and set up a picnic on the large, flat rocks. YOUR OWN PRIVATE GAMES ROOM - The games room in the basement of Cutlar’s Lodge is for your sole use. Here you will find table football, alongside a pool table. A DOG WALKER'S PARADISE - Cutlar’s Lodge welcomes up to three dogs at an additional cost of £50. As dog owners ourselves, we know first-hand the importance of being able to holiday with the whole family – four legged friends included! And with abundant private trails for you and your dogs to explore, there is so much space right on your doorstep. Why not walk down through the wildflower meadow to the loch, on to our ancient woodland and down to the beach for some much needed Vitamin Sea?! THE BEST LOCATION FOR MOUNTAIN BIKING IN SCOTLAND? - Orroland estate is conveniently located for anyone wishing to explore the famous 7Stanes, the world class mountain biking centres located in the south of Scotland, offering some of the best mountain biking in the UK. Designed for novices and experts alike, these centres offer something for everyone, from gentle family trails, ideal for beginners, to gnarly, technical descents, destined to challenge even the best mountain biker. From Orroland, you can head to nearby Dalbeattie (12 miles) or Mabie (22 miles) for the perfect day’s riding. Kirroughtree (35 miles), Ae (38 miles) and Glentrool (45 miles) are the next nearest locations. And when you are done, you are more than welcome to wash your bike down back at Orroland (there's an outside tap at your cottage), before storing it under cover in your garage. Guest access The house and fully-enclosed garden of Cutlar’s Lodge are your own private space. Ideal for both children and dogs. The wildflower meadow, loch with pavilion, walks and access to the sea shore are shared spaces for guests of three holiday homes and our own family, resident at Orroland. Orroland has its own private (and very quiet) road. There are no public roads intersecting the private and shared spaces. Your nearest neighbour is about 5 minutes' walk away.
