The small Torricina is part of a hotel spread over several locations (La Torre del Cornone), located in the historic center of Fontecchio (AQ), a five-minute walk from the main square (Piazza del Popolo). Fontecchio is a town with a medieval layout and appearance, located in the heart of the Sirente Velino Park. The Torricina is one of the towers that controlled the Aterno Valley from the southern corner of the walls, with a spectacular view of the green and silent valley of the Aterno River. The space La Torricina, entirely at your disposal, is a small unit with independent access from the garden and is spread over two floors (each 3x3 meters). Ideal for one or two people. On the ground floor there is a very small equipped kitchenette (single-burner induction stove, small sink, mini-fridge, kettle) and a bathroom with shower, while on the first floor, which is accessed by a narrow and steep staircase, there is a bedroom with two single beds or a double bed and many small windows and slits overlooking the Aterno valley. Next to the Torricina there is a table in the shade of a grape pergola and a laurel tree. Guest access Directly from the small Torricina, through the path of Porta da Piedi, you can reach the valley where the Aterno river flows or you can climb to the very green plateau of the Pagliare. You will find us as a stop along various paths: the Way of St. Thomas (Rome-Ortona) and that of Calestino V (Sulmona-L'Aquila). From here you can set off to visit the many villages, to reach the paths of the highest mountains of Gran Sasso, Monte Sirente, Velino and Maiella Madre. A few minutes away, Lake Sinizzo to cool off in summer and the caves of Stiffe. Nearby is the Campo Imperatore plateau with the Rocca di Calascio and Santo Stefano di Sessanio, as well as the cities of L'Aquila and Sulmona. Guests have access to guides, trail and road maps, a well-stocked library on the environment and landscape, and all our expertise on itineraries, local food, and wineries to get to know and visit. In the village, all the necessary services for a quiet stay: in the main street and in the surroundings (Via Roma), you will find everything you might need: a minimarket, pharmacy, post office, bar, tobacco shop, restaurants, and ATM.
