Franshoek Farm - The Stables Cottage

The Stables, is a basic and rustic self-catering cottage situated on Franshoek Farm, in the Witterberg Mountains, near Ficksburg. The cottage is located on the sandstone bluff, over-looking a magnificent view of the Valley. As farm stay guests, you enjoy a fully equipped self-catering kitchen which enjoins a central living space with a fireplace. There is a braai and central firepit. Please be advised that the 2 rooms are seperated and not conjoined in the 1 unit. The space The "Valley" is a truly magical place to relax and rejuvenate. Guests of all ages are welcome on our farm, as well as their pets. The space boasts sweeping views, fresh air, and fresh mountain spring water. Enjoy lovely farms walks to the cave and waterfall, a detoxifying steam and swim at the WetLove Garden pool, fishing or just resting. Contact Sam, for more information about any of these activities. ; - ) Guest access Guests have access to the entire holistic farm which includes 900 ha of mountains and grasslands, stocked with sheep, goats, cattle, horses, chickens, and wildlife. The hiking trails have been recently re-marked and offer peaceful days in the mountains to clear the head and soothe the soul. Other things to note This is a working farm. Pets are welcome, but must be responsibly looked after. The property is 15km off the tar road on a gravel road, which can be muddy during the rainy season and difficult to traverse. A vehicle with reasonably high clearance is recommended for travel to the farm. The Eastern Free State is a hub of outdoor activity and quaint country experiences. There is the annual The Cherry Festival in November, several MTB challenges, game safaris on horseback, farmers markets, craft and art fairs and more.
