Great House Farm - Luxury rural retreat

Description

Exclusive use of both our cottages: a one bed barn conversion and a studio log cabin cottage. Extensive private gardens in the Yorkshire hills. Sleeps 4-6 in two double bedrooms and two single folding beds that can be placed anywhere. Cot available. Families and pets welcome! The space Great House Farm features a luxurious one bedroom barn conversion and neighbouring cosy studio cottage. You will have exclusive use of both properties and surrounding garden. The barn has one king size bed and two folding Z beds for an additional two guests. The the Z beds are only suitable for children, we do not recommend for adults. The cottage features one double bed. Can also be booked individually. Nestled in the lush green Pennine hills, only a stone’s throw from the vibrant bustling market town of Hebden Bridge, Great House Barn and Cottage are an idyllic, secluded barn conversion and private studio log cabin in the grounds of our own home. The barn is a fully renovated conversion newly remodelled into a luxury holiday home. You have a large open plan, light and airy living room / dining / kitchen space with high vaulted ceilings and a log burning stove. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, grill, hob, microwave, Dolce Gusto coffee pod machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The living area features a fabulously comfortable armchair and sofa, and a large dining table. We provide internet tv, FM/DAB radio and a bluetooth speaker. The double bedroom is spacious, with a king size memory foam bed and top quality linen. The bathroom is the pièce de résistance with twin sinks, deep freestanding rolltop bath, underfloor heating and a massive wet room style rainfall shower. You have exclusive use of the patio outside which has lovely comfy outdoor armchairs and is the perfect spot to sit and admire the view all year round. Please note: our water supply is a natural spring which can occasionally decrease in extended drought periods. If this happens we regret we may need to limit use of the bath. This is a very rare occurrence and we would let you know in advance. The cottage is a studio with a living /bedroom space with adjoining kitchen and en-suite shower room. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, grill, hob, microwave, nespresso compatible coffee machine and fridge freezer. The living area features two easy chairs and a folding dining table to either free up space for relaxing, or open up for dinner. You have exclusive use of the large covered veranda which has a comfy sofa and armchair. We also have a secure bike / gear store which guests are welcome to use. There is a bike maintenance stand and we can also loan you bike cleaning and repair equipment and use of a hosepipe!! We are perfectly located for both active and more relaxing holiday activities. The local area is famous for mountain biking, road cycling and hill walking. We are located on the edge of a nature reserve, and the surrounding area is peaceful, quiet and vibrant with wildlife. We are set in 4 acres of lush gardens and meadow fields on the hillside above the beautiful Cragg Vale and Calder valleys and have stunning views all around. The location is a true retreat, completely secluded, offering peace and quiet to enjoy the countryside, views and wildlife, yet only a 25 minute walk to pubs, cafes and restaurants in the nearby village. You have privacy from the main house set away through the trees, and we are located at the end of a farm track up in the hills above the valley so there is no passing traffic. We are lucky to have an abundance of wildlife right on our doorstep and regularly see deer and pheasant wandering through the garden. The bird life is also amazing and we have a huge range of garden birds regularly visiting and frequently see birds of prey and heron hunting in our fields and pond. The moors are literally right out outside our gate, and you can walk up onto the tops in 5 minutes. We are also within a few minutes’ walk of a nature reserve. Guest access Your cottage and barn is for your private use throughout your stay. You also have private parking immediately outside. Guests are very welcome to use all of our gardens except the small lawn and patio immediately next to the main house where our children play. We own the fields immediately in front of and behind the house and garden, and you are welcome to use both for dog exercise off the lead. Other things to note Wifi We provide fibre wifi, and it is fine for streaming tv, but given our remote location, it will not be as fast as city centre super speed connections! Average speed is 10mbps. Family Although the cottage is cosy and ideally suited to couples, we are very family friendly and welcome young visitors. We can lend you a small travel cot with prior notice. We have a young family so can also provide all the usual baby paraphernalia...high chair, steriliser, bumbo, bouncer etc. Please just let us know in advance what you require! Pets We welcome well behaved dogs with prior notice please. We politely ask that you pease do not allow your pets to go on the furniture. We have a young family so we ask that dogs do not run loose around the garden please. We have no livestock so dogs are very welcome to exercise freely in our fields above and below the garden. The surrounding hills and moors offer excellent dog walking. Sports and activities The cottage is ideally positioned for a huge range of activities during your break, and we have something to offer for cyclists, walkers, bird watchers, photographers and those who just want to disconnect from real life for a few days, sit back and relax in stunning countryside. Cragg Vale is on the route of the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart and we are in fantastic road and mountain biking country. We can give lots of recommendations for great local routes. For walkers the Pennine way is only a mile away and the possibilities for highland and lowland walks nearby are many and varied.
