We are five minutes walk into the forest or two minutes cycle ride and ideally placed for those who love quiet spaces and countryside walking / cycling - and you will see ponies, cattle, pigs, donkeys, sheep and if you're really lucky - deer. We have many picturesque pubs and restaurants nearby - some within walking distance. We are happy to arrange bookings for you but will need good notice as they do tend to get booked in advance - even in the winter Your room is equipped with new and comfortable beds and freshly laundered linen, towels and robes and each room has its own tea / coffee making facilities. All rooms have thermostatically controlled radiators and the whole house is kept warm with a wood burning stove and / or central heating. Checkout the guidebook under guest resources for a few local pubs and restaurants that we recommend Guest access We are happy for you to make yourself at home during your stay. You are welcome to have your breakfast outside in the garden weather permitting. We are a working farm with cattle, calves and ponies and have two dogs who love visitors. Lola the black labrador and Evie the jack russell. During your stay We encourage guests to ask for tips and advice as we have lived in the area for many years and have an intimate and involved knowledge of this special and unique place which is now a national park. We have leaflets, books and information about the area and its many visitor attractions - but trust us the best ones are free - just exploring and walking in the forest with the animals and wildlife nearby is a very special experience. BESPOKE NEW FOREST TOURS If you would like a personalised tour of the New Forest we can plan this for you and organise a bespoke day out. We have farmed and commoned on the New Forest for well over thirty years and have an intimate knowledge of the history and culture of the Forest. This can for example include a visit to see our cattle and the ponies, a nature trip to look at the flora and fauna of the Forest or a specific tour of a place of interest to you. You are highly likely to see ponies, donkeys and pigs, guaranteed if wanted , to see cows, and if we are lucky deer. On recent trips we have seen various birds of prey, including white tailed eagles, buzzards and red kites plus songbirds and other wildlife. After breakfast following your nights stay we like to leave by 10am and tour until a break for a pub lunch. We set off to tour again with the aim of getting back to the farm by 4pm, normally on a circular tour and usually with a visit to the coast. A basic tour for up to three people in our 4x4 starts at £175. Lunch and drinks are payable separately and start from £10 per person, depending where we stop. We tend to book a table for 1pm where possible. This is payable directly to the provider on the day. If you prefer we can make and take with us a generous home made locally sourced picnic and drinks to suit your dietary requirements, which can be enjoyed at a suitable outdoor location. This will be charged on booking and costs from £15 per person. Entrance fees are payable separately but normally the best sights are free. We can accommodate extra guests (by utilising your own vehicle as well) and charge a nominal £25 extra per guest. We need a minimum of two/three weeks notice to arrange any tour. You will need warm clothes and waterproof footwear regardless. Binoculars are a useful addition. Contact us after booking your AirBNB with us and (subject to availability) we will endeavour to make your trip here with us a memorable occasion. Whilst there is no guarantee of what wildlife will be seen there is a high chance that you will come face to face with semi-feral ponies, donkeys, pigs and cattle on the commons. Please be aware these are semi - feral stock and you will not be able to either feed or touch them and will need to keep a respectful distance from them. We ask that you carefully abide by any request that is asked of you when we observe any stock and wildlife for their and your safety and well being. Thank you. Richard & Anita Other things to note You are welcome to bring your walking boots, wellies, outdoor gear and bikes to explore the area. We have a secure barn if needed to store bikes and larger items
