Treve Barn is in the heart of the South Downs National Park, nestled in a West Sussex countryside hamlet. A tranquil, peaceful setting yet only 1.5 - 2 hours from London and close to the market towns of Petworth (3 miles) and Midhurst (6 miles). Great walks right from the doorstep to cross old stone bridges, little streams and meadows. Treve Barn sleeps 4 people. 1 x Double Bedroom 1 x Twin Room Sitting Room with Log Burner Kitchen Bathroom with Shower and Bath Garden + Seating Area Parking The space Tranquil setting ideal for families, walkers, writers, artists and couples yet only 1.5 - 2 hours from London. Very peaceful with far ranging views across open fields to Bexley Hill and Blackdown. A haven for wildlife where deer and badgers are frequently sighted as are many bird species including owls, woodpeckers and buzzards. Beautiful walks available straight from your door into the heart of the countryside. Excellent circular walks can be made to the pretty village of Tillington passing the vineyards of Upperton and in the opposite direction to picturesque Lodsworth, home of E.H. Shepherd the illustrator of Winnie the Pooh. The Horseguards Inn, Tillington is a a great pub perfect for refreshments or a bite to eat. Lodsworth also has the award winning community village shop only 30 minutes walk away. Excellent star gazing with very little light pollution. In Winter we offer weekend breaks. A perfect getaway with the cozy warm logburner aglow and time to unwind and relax. In Spring visit to see the beautiful displays of wild bluebells, snowdrops and primroses throughout the woods. Summer is perfect for long walks, village fetes, The Petworth Festival, Polo, visits to the beach and perhaps relaxing with a good book or a glass of wine on warm evenings in your own private part of the garden gazing across the meadows and hills. N.B FROM 18th JULY - 2nd AUGUST THE TREVE FESTIVAL OF ART TAKES PLACE IN THE GROUNDS OF OUR PROPERTY to which you would be very welcome. During this time there will be increased numbers of visitors, live music and an art exhibition with workshops and demonstrations by visiting artists taking place around the site 11-6pm daily. Please take this into consideration when booking. In Autumn visit to have colourful walks amongst the woodlands, forage for blackberries, cob nuts and chestnuts, see the deer rut at Petworth Park and visit the nearby pubs with their welcoming log fires. By car you are within easy reach of Weald and Downland Living history Museum at Singleton, Cowdray Park Club for Golf and Polo, Arundel Castle, Glorious Goodwood, Amberley Museum and Petworth House NT. Petworth with its farmer's markets, delicatessens and antique shops is only 3 miles away making it the nearest town. The old market town of Midhurst is also nearby with the Cowdray Ruins to explore. The sea is only 30 minutes drive at Climping or head to the sandy beaches at West Wittering. Our home has been the residence to generations of artists, writers and poets. Sally and Euan continue this tradition with Euan's sculptures dotted throughout the garden and both their artworks decorating the walls of the barn. Guests have private access to The Treve gallery, next door, where they will find a selection of artworks for sale by Euan and Sally and other local, professional artists. Great if you want to bring home a memento of your holiday or find a unique present for a friend or loved one. Art includes: Framed and mounted Prints, Glass, Ceramics, Furniture, Paintings, Silk Scarves, Mugs and Artist's Handmade Cards. Plenty of off-road parking. Sorry No Pets. Other things to note The Guest's Washing Machine is located in The Treve Gallery which is a separate building adjoining the main cottage. Guests can access these facilities through their stay and the room, handles, switches and amenity will be deep cleaned before and after use. The Treve Gallery exhibits art work for sale from ourselves and other local, professional artists. Guests can purchase artworks directly and take them home at the end of their stay. Items include: Printmaking, Glass, Silk Scarves, Mugs, Paintings etc.
