The Greenwood Rooms
The Greenwood Rooms
Description
Spacious modernised apartment on the third floor of a large Victorian property. The apartment is a fully private space but you access it through our family home. This beautiful attic apartment has been recently renovated and includes a gorgeous walk-in shower. The furnishings are a blend of modern and retro with local artwork showing Yorkshire's magnificent scenery. Your hosts are experienced walkers and can provide maps and local knowledge to allow you to fully explore the area. The space A lot of love and care went into the renovation of this third floor apartment. It is a beautiful and light apartment with views across the trees. It includes a bedroom with a skylight, a spacious bathroom (walk-in shower) and an open plan kitchenette and living room. There is a smart TV but also a whole range of DVDs and books to enjoy. The kitchenette includes a microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge freezer (please be aware there is no oven - there is a George Foreman's though). The dining table boasts a bespoke OS map of the area under perspex so you can plan how to explore over breakfast! At the property, there is an extensive range of maps and walk suggestions covering the whole Dales region (we are also on hand to give advice and suggestions). There will also be a information pack to help you settle in. On arrival, there will be initial amenities available: tea, coffee, milk, bread and jams to help you get started. We have a Co-op store about 5 minutes walk away if you need anything else. It is open 7 am to 11 pm every day. What makes this apartment extra special is it's location. From the property, you are ideally positioned to "park" the car and take the opportunity to ramble around our historic town, try some of the easy strolls along the Wharfe's riverbank or tackle sterner challenges across the magnificent Rombalds Moor. Ilkley is a charming town with many pubs, restaurants and a Betty's! There is lots to do and see within the town but it is also a brilliant base to venture further afield and explore (by car, bus train or bike) some of the amazing attractions found across the Yorkshire Dales. This house has been home to our family for over 50 years and we would love to share with you all the wonderful places we've enjoyed over the years. We have created over 15 sightseeing attractions within a day's journey from Ilkley by car. See Ian's Guidebook below, links include pictures and further details/pictures about each attraction. You can use the apartment to take your first bold step along the beautiful Dales Way (a total of 80 miles from Ilkley to Bowness in the Lake District). Guest access You will enjoy exclusive use of two very large, spacious rooms - lounge and bedroom - plus a generous bathroom. So, there is plenty of space to either plan walks at the large table or simply watch a Netflix movie over by the couch. Better still, take advantage of the peace and tranquillity of the apartment to simply "chill out" and read that book you have always been meaning to. The Guidelines Link gives more information of places to visit and suggestions of where we eat locally. Other things to note Visitors can get details of walks beforehand if they wish to do some initial planning. Please be aware the kitchenette does not have a cooker, we do have a George Foreman grill though. Also if you are 2 guests but would like to use the sofabed we will have an additional charge of £10. Please let us know so we can set it up for you. The Greenwood Rooms and stairways display a wide range of local pictures from the Dales, including a quayside image of Staithes on the East coast and old engravings of Ilkley Grove as it looked way back in 1872. Many of the paintings and sketches found throughout the house were created by friends and relations of the family. Pat has lived at Holly House (the full name of property) most of her life and may have some interesting stories to share about the artists involved! The driveway is quite narrow but we've had large 4x4s up it! We also have two pets, Jasper is a cocker spaniel he is rather barky so we tend to keep him away from guests. We also have a cat Smudge who is very friendly!
