Description
Ideal rural retreat for anyone and everyone! This cosy wooden cabin is a simply lovely place to stop and unwind. Set near to a small Sussex village with direct access onto the South Downs, Iford is on the wild fringes of historic Lewes (2 miles), vibrant Brighton (7 miles) and Newhaven ferry and beach (6 miles). Being close to a road the sound of traffic is audible. If you are walking the South Downs Way and want to book for one night only please contact me, we may be able to accommodate you. The space Set close to the main house but in a 3-acre plot with far-reaching views of rolling fields and Mount Caburn, the hut has its own entrance gate, private veranda, outdoor dining and fire pit seating and converted stable block with kitchen/cooking and seating area and separate washing space with glamping style eco WC (no flush), cold water basin, hot shower and steaming sauna! Bike storage a plenty. Family friendly. Well-behaved dogs welcome. The vintage-style Shepherd hut feels like a step back in time, but is well equipped with mod cons for comfort: electric lighting, induction hob, Wi-fi access, DAB radio all powered from our own solar panels,. Fully insulated for all-season stays. Outdoor firepit/BBQ and logs provided. Having a separate cooking area means that there is more space for you in the Hut but means that we can also cater for longer duration stays. Sleeps one or two, plus there’s a roll up futon mattress to squeeze in a third. Guest access You get the run of the Shepherd hut and stable block wash facilities - access to bike storage. Off-street parking. Use of garden fire pit seating; herb garden; field access to public footpath (walks to Lewes/Iford village/Rodmell). We also have a dedicated space for drying clothes. Breakfast You will have free access to a well stocked fridge - choose what you want and then cook it up either in the kitchen area or if your prefer, and more indulgently, in the hut whilst one soaks in the view, the other slaves over the stove. All tastes will be catered for, anything you may want that could be 'off the menu' let us know and we will get it in for you - its really no bother Other things to note The hut is situated in a family cottage garden setting with two boys and a dog. Although we can guarantee the tranquillity of the countryside by night… we can’t 100% guarantee that you won’t be disturbed by the kids or dog playing by day! Please do bear in mind that this is a family home Air BnB listing. Although the Shepherd hut is sheltered away from the house, we all share the driveway and areas of the garden. We are close to the C7, a road that links two local towns, and during rush hour (7 - 9am and 4 - 6pm) the noise of the cars as people scurry from one place to the other is audible.
