Description
Located only 5 minutes from the Voi railway station (SGR) in a beautiful rural setting, this property borders the Voi sand river and has stunning views of the Taita hills to the west. A very convenient stop-over 5 minutes off the Nairobi/Mombasa highway and set in 4 acres of secure grounds with plenty of shady trees and gardens. 10 minute drive from the town centre of Voi with access to banks, supermarkets and fresh vegetable market. 15 minutes to the world famous Tsavo East National Park. The space Tsavo House is a new property set in four acres of grounds, designed and built using local materials - its a private home with design considerations offering privacy, peace & comfort. It comprises 3 beautiful bedrooms with en suite bathrooms (showers) plus a double 'star' bed on the rooftop terrace (with its own shower/toilet). Two further couches can serve as full size single beds on the ground floor verandah. Making it comfortable for ten adults to share the house. The verandahs and roof top terrance provide ample seating areas and the modern kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, freezer, gas cooker and cutlery and crockery for 10 guests. Mango Tree Campsite - which has room for at least twenty tents is set on the adjacent property near the river bank. Weary travellers will be able to set up their tents (or hire from us) and soon relax under the canopy if shady trees. The ablution facilities are so nice that they become a topic of conversation (really) the showers must be the nicest showers (in a campsite) south of the Sahara!! It's more like a "glamping" experience. The property is very convenient to many nearby attractions - most notably the infamous 'red' Elephants of Tsavo East and West National Parks, the Lumo Wildlife Conservancy, and the beautiful Taita Hills famous for several species of birds found nowhere else in the world! Guest access Tsavo House can be yours exclusively - regard it as your own home and garden with wide, well furnished verandah's overlooking the expansive grounds which are shared only with your host and his family and the variety of birds, monkeys and mongoose families who have also taken up residence in these peaceful surroundings. Your host is an artist and has a private studio in the grounds which (on request) he would be delighted to allow to view his ongoing art works (wildlife studies and watercolour landscapes). Other things to note Depending on the time and duration of your stay further trips can be arranged to many places of interest - even beach holiday excursions to the Kenyan coast!! From time to time we do host schools outdoor activities and student camps offering leadership, mentoring and rights of passage programmes, all of which are enhanced if we can include foreign visitors and enjoy the cross cultural exchanges.
