Apt with parking, in centre of Pallanza, a few steps from Lake Maggiore & beach
This holiday apartment (40m2) is situated on the ground floor in a small newly-built block. It is located in the centre of Pallanza (just off Piazza Gramsci). Pallanza is an elegant lively small town on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Pallanza (and Intra) form the town Verbania which is capital of the Verbano-Cusio-Ossola province. Along the lakefront are several bars and restaurants, as well as the elegant porticoed town hall. Via Ruga leads up and away from the lake and is where you will find the small shopping area. The apartment is close to many restaurants, boutiques, shops and cafes. The bus-stop for Stresa or Switzerland is a few steps away. Lake Maggiore and its lakeside "passeggiata" and the ferry boats that take you to the islands (Isola Bella, Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Madre) or even all the way to Switzerland is only 100 metres away. The promenade or passeggiata runs all the way to neighbouring Suna. At Lido di Suna (500 metres away), you will find a fully-equipped sandy beach with restaurants, bars and swimming pool. The apartment is nicely furnished and all the furnishings and fittings are new. There is a living room with television and double sofa bed and a separated area with double bed. It sleeps up to 4 people. The bathroom which is of a good size has shower, bidet and washing machine and a dressing room. Fully-fitted kitchen with table and chairs. Terraced area by the house where you can also park your car. There is further parking (not private) close by. You can go skiing at Domo Bianca which is about 45 minutes by car and the ski slopes of Monte Rosa, Macugnaga are about an hour away. The San Leonardo Parish Church is in the town centre. It was built between 1535 and 1590 and contains some notable wood carvings. Pallanza is also home to the wonderful Villa Taranto with its botanical gardens which a just a quick hop on the ferry or a pleasant 15 minute walk. The San Remigio Gardens are lesser known but can be visited by contacting the tourist office to book a guided tour. Just off the shores of Pallanza is San Giovanni Island. The island is private property and the Italian musician and conductor Arturo Toscanini once lived there. Toscanini was resident conductor at La Scala from 1898 to 1908 and during the 1920's. Pallanza is about an hour from Milan Malpensa Airport and 100 km from Milan itself.
