Description

Wake to the sounds of a stream running just outside your tent, wander the vineyard with a cup of coffee, picnic on local food & wine under a canopy of apple trees, watch the sun set on the West Elk Mountains from your private deck overlooking the orchard. Your canvas glamping tent includes solar lighting, a queen bed with linens, two comfortable chairs, and a private covered deck. A full bathroom with shower is just steps away, and parking is available right outside your tent. The space Osito Farms is a commercial, organic orchard and vineyard known for our stunning views (ask any local!), beautiful trees, and intensely flavorful fruit. We grow cherries, peaches, table and wine grapes, and apples - all of which can be purchased by guests here on the farm when in season. The farm is named after a little bear that used to visit the orchard and eat the fruit (Osito means "little bear" in Spanish). Since the orchard borders a wild, forested area, it is not unusual to see wildlife including deer, fox, and a wide array of smaller animals and songbirds in the orchard. Your glamping tent is the best of both worlds: Located a short walk to a full bathroom with a shower, clean water to refill your water bottle, power if you wish to charge your phone, and even a refrigerator for your local craft food finds. At the same time, your tent is tucked between a willow-lined stream and one of our oldest blocks of apple trees, with your private deck looking out over the lower half of the orchard and across the valley to the rugged West Elk Mountain Range. The sunsets and stargazing will blow you away. The tent itself is a 10x12 canvas wall tent with vinyl rain fly, custom made by the Colorado Yurt Company. Uniquely, the tent has two doors with full mosquito screens, allowing for more fresh air and a lovely cross breeze in the summer. The tent is lit with solar or battery powered lights and cooled with battery fans (no electricity in the tent itself) but there is electricity nearby if needed. Guest access You are welcome to park right next to your tent, or in our parking lot near the barns. 3100 Rd is a lovely country road lined with farms and orchards. We are located a few miles west of the town of Hotchkiss, just north of Hwy 92. Most folks arrive by car but the area is also a favorite among bicyclists. Other things to note Osito makes a lovely base for exploring all the North Fork Valley has to offer - we are biking distance to several other popular orchards, lavendar farms, and wineries, and a short drive to the the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Grand Mesa, Needle Rock, Pleasure Park (great for SUP'ing), and the towns of Paonia and Cedaredge. Feel free to ask us for suggestions on what to see and do in the area.
