Welcome to Papillon Cottage. Our cottage is a gem in Arundel with a beautiful private garden and three lovely bedrooms. We are close to the car park which is a bonus in Arundel as parking can be very difficult and the swimming pool is just a few footsteps away. The castle and beautiful shops and restaurants are all within a five minute walk and there are many beautiful walks along the river and over the Arundel estate to enjoy. We love it here and hope you enjoy our home as much as we do. The space Guests have the use of all the cottage including a wonderful garden which is completely private and beautifully planted. We are close to the car park to make unloading really easy and it is just a 10 minute walk from the station with the direct line to London. It is a wonderful haven and warm and inviting space with all the gorgeous shops and restaurants on the doorstep without the headache of the parking and the noise when you want to enjoy a little down time. Enjoy x Other things to note Welcome; Wine and chocolates or biscuits plus milk, tea, coffee & hot chocolate will be at the cottage for your arrival. Children; The garden is safe and completely enclosed. There is also an enormous Hamleys teddy on the landing which is great to read stories in or watch iPad movies. The lido swimming pool, crazy golf, tennis, wild fowl trust and Arundel castle are all within walking distance. There are also many child friendly restaurants and cafes to choose from in the high street which are really great to pop along to. Pets; We welcome well behaved pets too, on request, and we have lots of dog towels and extra mats in the boot room to use as needed for muddy paws. Garden; We have a large garden table set up to seat 6 to 8 guests with outdoor couches. We also have solar lights which will come on throughout the garden in the evenings and a gas bbq for you to use. The garden has an automatic watering system that will come on twice a day for half an hour. Household water; There is a water softening system in the laundry area which will come on for a few minutes in the afternoon. Bathroom and shower; Shampoo, conditioner and Spa products provided for guest use Linens and towels; All bedding and towels are of high quality Egyptian cotton. Please bring your own beach towels if you would like to make use of the Lido swimming pools and beaches nearby. Storage; All of the bedrooms have either drawers or a cupboard to store your clothes and there are also clothes hooks available behind the doors to hang clothes. All of the beds are also high enough so that all cases and bags can be stored neatly underneath, either open as an open drawer/ case or just to keep things out of the way. Lounge; The lounge has a large comfortable couch and arm chair with double doors which open onto the garden. This room is cozy and very comfortable with a lovely old fireplace. Kitchen; Crockery and utensils from Sophie Conran and a delonghi filter coffee machine and Smeg filter coffee machine are both at the cottage. Dining; The dining table is set up with four antique chairs and two additional folding chairs are also available to seat 6. There is another lovely old fireplace in the dining room and this room is particularly lovely for easy breakfasts as the sun streams in. Decoration and history; The cottage is decorated in soft neutral tones with old antique furniture of a French vintage style mixed with modern comforts. We are Grade II listed and the year the cottage was built is dated on the front wall and is 1789. 1789 was the year of the French Revolution, Mutiny on the Bounty and the first Thanks Giving in America and so we named the cottage ‘Papillon Cottage’ in recognition of new beginnings and we hope the time you spend here recharges your spirits and you leave us relaxed and happy. Things to do at home and close to the cottage; We have books at your disposal and chess and board games for you to enjoy. Walking, running and biking is also very good from the house and so please bring your bikes if you would like to. They can be kept safely in the back garden which is completely enclosed and private or in the boot room. You are welcome to use the free weights and yoga mat and there is a foot spa if you want a little more pampering. We also have a couple of tennis rackets and some balls and there are two local courts that you can hire in the town next to the crazy golf and the children’s playground. Finally, we have one kayak which is wonderful to use on the river and we will leave the life jackets for it in the annex cupboard but please only use this if you are a strong swimmer and have checked the tides as they can be very strong and this would be at your own risk. If you have your own kayaks and/ or paddle boards please bring them too. Launching is just across the bridge and you ask for the key at the bridge coffee shop beside it. It is a beautiful paddle if you go with the tide to the Black Rabbit and on to Amberley. We really hope you love your time here and thank you very much for choosing us. PS we are also now able to offer stays of 1 week at 25% discount and 1 month or more at 70% discount inclusive of bills and utilities subject to availability with weekly gardening included. Additional maid service can also be added at £20 per hour plus laundry service of £50 for bedding and towels as needed
