Our place is approximately 45 mins from this airport. 2) Hobby (HOB) airport is in the southern part of town but the surrounding neighborhood is not the nicest to stay in. Our place is approximately 20 mins from this airport. 3) Houston is a driving town: public transport unfortunately is not the way to go in most situations. Getting from IAH is particularly difficult using the bus system. There is a limited light-rail which is good for going out to downtown and some events when you do not want to drive. For long-term stay, I often recommend renting a car (go thru priceline or other discount sites) which can be cheaper than Uber or Lyft and much easier than figuring out bus schedules. 4) Parking compared to other cities is plentiful and usually free. If shopping or eating out always ask if they do validation -- that makes even garage parking free. As in any large city, do not leave any visible items in your car when you park. At our place, we have plenty of free street parking in front of our home. 5) Thursday is free museum day. Most of the Houston museums are walking distance from each other in the Museum District. A "Museum Crawl" is a great way to spend a Thursday afternoon. FREE times Listed below: Houston Museum of Natural Science — 3 pm – 6 pm Children’s Museum of Houston — 5 pm – 8 pm Museum of Fine Arts, Houston — 10 am – 9 pm The Health Museum — 2 pm – 7 pm Houston Museum of African American Culture — 6 pm – 8 pm Buffalo Soldiers National Museum — 1 pm – 5 pm Our is place is 25 minutes from the Museum District 6) We are the home of the World Series Champion Astros. Come see a game at Minute Maid Park-there are no bad seats. Tuesdays are $1 hot dog nights. 7) NRG stadium hosts a ton of major events including the world famous Houston Rodeo and Livestock show (Feb/March), OTC conference, various concerts and Texans home games. 8) Though Galveston is more well known the beach is not great. Try Bryan Beach Park--awesome FREE beach that you can drive on and is never crowded. If you stay at our place, we will lend you a cooler for a beach picnic! Bryan beach is 1 hour away from our place. 9) You may not know that Houston has the largest Vietnamese population in the US (outside of California). That means great Vietnamese foods. 10) We are a hot city (a great way to escape the winter) but don't worry we also are the air conditioning capital of the south. I always recommend layering and bringing at least a light sweater or jacket for the cool indoors! Our place has great AC and fans are available. Guest access All common areas except the de-attached garage & locked doors/areas. Feel free to occasionally use 1 of host's 2 bicycles for exercise or get around. During your stay feel free to chat with me when i am around or i am just a text/call away Other things to note Public Transportation: 2 bus stops are 10 minutes by foot to 2 different routes. There is also a bus hub 15 minute by foot. ESA & Service Animal Policy: Due to health concerns of host’s family members and another long-term renter’s severe allergies, we cannot accommodate animals at this time, thank you for your understanding. Note: We fully support our guests who legitimately need assistance animals. Please be aware that fradulent misrepresentation of a pet as a Service Animal IS a federal crime under the ADA, as well as under various state and municipal statutes throughout the US, punishable by civil penalties, including fines and jail time.—————————————— State Laws require that all pets be on their owner’s property or under the control of their owners at all times. HOA Code of Conduct states the following: - Service Animals (Dogs ONLY, no exotic pets) - All pets must be properly licensed according to State, County or Municipal laws. - All dogs must be on a leash under 8 feet in length and under the control of their handler at all times when not on the owner’s property. The leash requirement is in effect year round! - It is the responsibility of the handler to pick up and properly dispose of all dog feces (on and off property)! * Pets are NOT ALLOWED in the Lakes or streams * ** Great TIP from our return guests: "Brush your dogs out a day or two before arrival so you don’t have to worry about hair during vacation!" SERVICE PETS Please answer the 2 following questions: Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? _______ What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? _____________________________________ - (EXAMPLE For how to Answer: "This service dog is trained to ( …perform the task of … ) ________________________ during a medical situation of the owner") Fill in the blank above to specify the trained task. *You do not have to reveal your disability in formulating your reply. Please read below for more information and guidance on acceptable answers. ** We have family members and other guest and renters that have severe allergies to dander. We accommodate for all so there is a fee to do a different cleaning when pets are accepted in a private shared, personal home, in a residential HOA vs a public hotel in a commercial zone. FEDERAL WARNING Those who pretend that they are disabled, or that their pet is a Service Dog so that they may enter or stay in a hotel, house, apartment or condominium — or to exceed the boundaries of what is legal or ethical are breaking federal law. There are legal options for traveling with your dog which you should consider. Your Service Dog must be able to complete a trained task or work that is directly related to your disability.
