The room is in a green built home with radiant floor heat, thick insulating walls, low VOC paint, posturpedic queen bed with Egyptian cotton linens, a small refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The space We are located in the lovely College Hill Historic Neighborhood, only 2 blocks from the Oregon State University campus and short 5 minute walk through the beautiful historic neighborhood to the coffee shops, restaurants and retails shops along Monroe Street, across from the OSU campus. The house is perfectly suited for an individual or couple in town for OSU business or sports activities, wine touring, or visiting friends and family. The house was built in 2006 using energy efficient, environmentally friendly green building materials, and with fine craftsmanship. The house design is a unique blend of contemporary and Japanese design, with award-winning landscaping. A private courtyard with beautiful landscaping is tucked between the guest and main house for quiet relaxation. The cottage was designed with passive cooling and does not have an air conditioning unit. If you open the windows at night and close them when it starts to get warm first thing in the morning, the cottage will stay nice and cool even during the hot summer weather. This year we added solar to power the whole cottage, bringing its energy consumption to net zero. Through a partnership with The Nature Conservancy, as hosts we volunteer and participate in controlled burning across Oregon. You will be planting a tree in Oregon by staying with us as we donate to One Tree Planted for each stay!
